"He was totally checking you out, don't deny it Willow" Cassie winked nudging my shoulder.

"He was not, shut up. The only time Calum Hood checks me out is in my dreams" I joked opening my locker.

"I think not" she said opening her locker, the one next to mine. I placed my geometry and science book in it and then shut it, waiting for Cassie to finish getting the stuff she needed.

"I don't feel like walking today, can't we take the bus?" Cassie complained.

"The bus is smelly, gross, and unsanitary. If you want to take the bus, you can take it alone" I said rolling my eyes.

"What about the buddy system?" She asked. "If our parents found it we broke it, we're dead" she added.

Cassie and I had been walking home from school together ever since elementary school under the buddy system, and we were in college now. Our parents never let us walk home without each other. They're crazy over protective of us, but we are both their only children so I can see why they're so protective. Even though we're not exactly children anymore.

"It's fine, they won't find out if we don't do it for one day, I still need to get my steps for the day in anyways" I said showing her my Fitbit.

"Alright, then text me when you get home so I know you're safe" she said.

"Okay mum" I chuckled.

"I'm serious Willow, Emily Pernick said there was a car following her all the way home so she darted home. Just please, be careful" she said.

"I'll be fine Cassie" I said.

"Okay, love you" she said hugging me.

"Love you too" I replied.

"I have to go before I miss the bus" she said releasing me. I watched her walk away before heading my way out the front door.

I pulled out my phone and my earbuds to play music for the walk. I hit shuffle and "San Diego" by Blink-182 began to fill my ears.

I made a turn to take the long way home because I wanted to stop at the gas station to pick up some sour patch kids.

As I was walking a breeze started to brush over me, leaving small goosebumps to form along my skin. I pulled my sleeves down further to cover my hands, leaving me with sweater paws.

I walked into the gas stations parking lot minuets later and pulled out my earbuds as I entered the store, making my way to the candy aisle. I looked at the large bag of sour patch kids debating whether or not I wanted to get the large bag or the normal sized bag.

I looked up for a second and saw a man staring at me. We locked eyes and it sent a chill down my spine. He seemed to be in his forties, and had some scruff on his chin and jaw line. I got a little freaked out and quickly grabbed the large bag and walked up to the cash register.

A young man with a bright smile on his face greeted me. "Hello, how are you today?" He asked scanning my sour patch kids.

"I'm good how are you?" I asked pulling out my wallet.

"I'm quite alright, that'll be $3.58" he smiled. I handed him a five and he opened the cash register to give me my change. "You feel okay? You look a little cold" he said.

"Yeah, it's just a little chilly outside and I was walking home from school" I said.

"You like hot chocolate?" He asked.
