Chapter 1

Alex's pov

I walked down to the livingroom after hearing Aston and dad arguing, my aunt sarah was sat on the couch, with a sorry face on, I slowly sat down next to her, ast and dad didn't even notice me because they were shouting so much "what's going on?" I asked aunt sarah quietly "well... Your dad wants Aston to become one of the east side" she told me "what do you mean 'east side'" I asked looking very confused "the gang, for our side of town" aunt sarah looked at me with sorry filled eyes "dad!, you can't make him do this, it's unfair!" I screamed annoyed "I think you'll find I can, young lady, and you should be joining with Aston!" I couldn't believe him, after everything he told me about these gangs "but-" I was cut off "no buts, you will both be joining!" I was enraged right now "go to your rooms both of you!" Aston and I did what dad said, we didn't want to disobey him, we knew what would happen if we did.

I got into my room and sat down on my bed, I looked at the old picture of me, Aston, mum and dad, we all looked so happy.
Why couldn't it stay that way?
I felt a tear roll down my cheek that I didn't even know I had been crying, I heard a knock on the door "can I come in?" Aston asked, I nodded, he then sat down on the bed next to me and wiped my tears away "what's wrong, Alex?" "I, just don't want you to get hurt, you've heard the stories that dad told us when we were younger, it's dangerous" I told Aston "I know, but it looks like I don't have a choice" Aston said, I felt so bad for him, he clearly doesn't want to do this "it's so unfair" I huffed "I know, I know" Aston hugged me tight.

*the next day, 7:00am*

Alex's pov

I was woke up by Aston shaking me violently "ALEX! Wake up it's our first day of school!" I groaned "get off of me Aston!" He chuckled and left my room.
I put my makeup on and straightened my naturally blonde hair and put my uniform on, my uniform is a white shirt, a red tie and a black pleted skirt.
I went down stairs and Aston was sitting eating breakfast with his uniform on, I went into the cupboard and pulled out cocoa pops and poured them into a bowl, no milk as usual I sat In between Aston and aunt sarah, dad was still asleep.
"You not having any milk?" Aunt sarah asked but before I could speak "she doesn't like milk in anything" Aston answered for me.
After I finished my cereal Aston and I left, we climbed into Astons car and began to drive to school.

*at school*

"Well it's different" I said to Aston "yupp" Aston replied popping the 'p'
The bell soon rang and i didn't have a clue where to go, suddenly someone bumped into me nearly knocking me over "oops, sorry" the girl said apologetically "it's fine" I reassured her "oh, you must be the new girl, I'm Nicole" she put her hand out for me to shake, I shook her hand "Alex" she then showed me to class, she was in all of the same classes as me, so she could show me around

We went into maths I took a seat next to Nicole, another boy sat next to me, he took a good look at me "are you a Merrygold?" The boy asked "maybe why?" I asked suspiciously "everyone knows and have heard of the Merrygolds" he said to me "well my dads David Merrygold and my brothers Aston Merrygold, who even are you anyway?" I asked getting rather annoyed "I'm Zayn" he told me
Nicole then butted in "wait your a Merrygold?" "Yeah why?, Alex Merrygold" Zayn started speaking again "well you clearly didn't know that your dads one of the most famous gangsters round here?" My eyes shot up "what?, he told me he was in a gang but he didn't tell me any of this" "well you know now" Zayn turned round and began doing his work.

*break*

Nicole and I were just taking a walk and we went outside and stood it was a freezing cold winters morning, I really don't know why we are out here but any how
As I looked up there was a boy standing looking my way crowded with loads of other boys, one of which I recognised to be Zayn, as our eyes met I couldn't look away, his blazing green eyes staring into my light green ones, I was brought back to reality by Nicole lightly shaking me "did you hear what I said?" I ignored her question "w who's that?" She then started pulling me away and walked back into school " no no no no, he's bad for you, you stay away from him okay?" She told me sternly "why?" I asked extremely confused by her reaction "because he's bad, and he's from the west side, they're all bad" she looked at me not removing her eyes from mines the whole tome she spoke "but-" I was cut off "look, Alex, just stay away from him okay" I then agreed and walked to class, Nicole had a meeting thing with the school council so she told me she would get me at the lockers for lunch, I nodded and walked away, I couldn't stop thinking about HIM though, the one with the blazing green eyes and the curly hair, HIM.
