Summary: Well, Dean is straight. Totally, totally straight. He only kissed Cas to piss off some homophobes... Right?

"Hey there pretty boy!" Someone shouted at Castiel from across the crowded hallway and a few people laughed. Castiel rolled his eyes. "Well, thank you for the compliment about my appearance, but I am not sexually interested in you, sorry" he said.
Most people would think he was stupid. Only Cas, Dean, Sam, and his family knew it was just a show, and he actually knew exactly what that boy meant.
Speaking of Dean, he was walking right next to him and stood protectively next to his best friend. Ever since Castiel had come out as gay, he'd gotten quite a lot of shit from people in the school. Since he was a pretty sensitive person, there were a few ones that would hit him hard, ones that commented about how he would never find anyone that would love him. Dean would always say it's not true, and start talking about how great Castiel was.
But Dean was an idiot. And so oblivious he makes Harry-frickin-Potter look observant.
"Hey, stay away from me, fag!" A girl yelled as he walked by her. "A fag is a bundle of sticks." Castiel monotonously replied. "If you were referring to the obvious" he said, pointing towards his... Y'know. "I can assure you I'm better off than that. But I guess you'll never know, it's not like you're ever going to see it" he replied calmly, while Dean burst into laughter.
"Whatever, it's not like anyone else will. Who would ever want to?" She snarled. "it's not like anyone would be interested in him anyway" she said with a victorious smirk.
And then came that one thought. About how not-gay Dean's sexuality was. How he'd never be interested in him.
But he didn't look all sad and heartbroken. Nah. He made this tutting noise and looked down at the floor, his eyes slightly wide, a nonchalant look on his face. "Well at least I'm not the only one who's never gonna get a guy" he said, smiling at the girl. By then an entire crowd gathered around them, cheering or booing, occasionally, much like at that moment, "oooohhhhh"'s spread through the crowd.
But that made Dean sad, did Cas really think that? He had to do something...
So he took the boy by his shoulder, spun him around and slammed him against the lockers as everybody gasped. He pressed their bodies together and leaned close, to whisper a short "trust me" into Castiel's ear.
He pulled away, yet still kept very close, looking him on the eye with the questioning look. Cas's brain was a mess. Do it don't do it Do it don't do it Do it don't do it Do it don't do i-he nodded.
Fucking idiot said his brain. Even I agree with him on that one, and we never agree, said... Let's just say something lower than his stomach.
But it was too late, because before he could register it Dean's lips were against his.
Now, Castiel had always fancied Dean, and even though he knew it was only to shock that girl but... He could enjoy it while it lasted, right?
So he snaked his tongue between Dean's plump lips, and then continued to make out against the lockers, in front of a decent amount of the school.
Upon breaking apart, Dean just took Castiel's hand and they walked away as if nothing happened.
Once they went into an empty hallway was when Dean looked Castiel in the eye.
Oh God what if he thinks I like him and he hates me oh no-Cas's train of thoughts was cut off by Dean coughing. "Um, I hope nothing changed between us, it was just a kiss to make that girl shut up, right?" Dean asked. Cas nodded. "Of course nothing's gonna change, it's fine" Cas said and awkwardly hugged Dean.
Dean hugged him back and breathed in.
It was just a kiss, they both thought. One was disappointed, and one... Well one was just confused.
--
Dean had spent the rest of the day confused. Not with Cas, no, but with himself.
Because, well, Dean likes... Girls... But that kiss with Cas felt too good to ignore.
Dean never had a problem with sexualities. You dig whoever you dig-it was never Dean's concern. But he had always thought he was straight. He never had any sexual or romantic thoughts about Castiel until they had kissed.
He had always thought of Cas as his family. His brother, his best friend. He compared the way he felt for Castiel to the way he felt for Sam, his little brother, and discovered, to his horror, that even though both emotions were intense, they were nothing alike.
So he spent the rest of the day freaking out about how to tell Castiel.
Even though he knew damn straight (not) that when it came to it he'd probably just blurt something out and get himself embarrassed.
And indeed, when they met again, Dean had taken him to the impala because they "needed to talk about something"
"Well, Dean, you wanted to say something?" Castiel asked. Not wanting to beat around the bush, Dean took a deep breath. "Um, the kiss we had in the hallway..." Dean begun. "Oh God, do you feel weird because of it?" Castiel asked worriedly, readjusting the way he sat, his piercing blue eyes staring into his. "Um, yes, but not in the way you think..." Dean said.
Cas tilted his head in confusion. "Well" he said. "What do you mean?" He asked. "Um... Can we try it again?" Dean said.
Let's just say that when they walked out of the impala they walked consistently closer than normal best friend do.
And this time on purpose.
