Chapter 22

"What do you mean they took it over?!" Sam yelled at him furiously.

"The rouges attacked. We were out numbered because they had already attacked three other packs, and told all the men to fight for them or die. A lot chose death, but they still gained a lot of fighters. We were heading to the castle to warn you and get more fighters together to fight them. Why aren't you there?" It was Aubrey that talked this time.

"We aren't there, because their leaders took over the castle and were holding us captive underground at the old base." Lucas said, "The Luna of the Blue Star pack, Lana, and the alpha Foster along with Zane, James's brother, and his mate Laurie, are in charge of all this. They Zane killed James and tried to trick Heriott to think Cassie and Sam killed him so they could inherit the titles. They trapped them and left me to guard them, but I broke them out and we were coming here." he explained.

"How do we know you aren't tricking us? So we can be attacked and our deaths look like a real rouge did it?" Aubrey asked. She didn't trust him, but I didn't blame her, I wouldn't either if I hadn't recognized him.

 "Because his Wolf wouldn't lie to me. He can't, not since I'm the queen, and because of my gift." Heriott said, taking a step forward proudly.

"Well how do we not know you aren't lying either? They killed you're mate, but left you? And you haven't died from heartbreak yet? How do we even know he was your real mate!?" Logan snapped at her. He had a point.

"I'm the Queen." She said, her only argument. It wasn't a very good one, Lana was the Luna of her pack and Zane had been the Duke, so titles meant nothing right now, but no one seemed willing to argue, becuase everyone just looked away uncomfortably.

"Where's Mom and Dad?" I asked, looking at Aubrey, "And Isaac and Montanna and Annabell?"

All four of them looked around a few looked almost in pain. Finally Aubrey looked at me, "They captured Mom and Dad. Avery and Aaron were working for the rouges and they took Annabell with them, but she's going to find a way out to help us. No one's seen Isaac for days either. He just kinda dissappeared before while you were gone, before the attack."

This is just great. My brother and my parents all gone?

Lovely.

Cassie? I heard in my head. Cassie can you hear me? I froze. I can't mind link with anyone except for Lucas, and this was a girl in my head.

I can hear you, but who are you?

Don't recognize your own best friend after a few weeks? Tsk tsk I must say.

I took in a huge breathe and looked around slowly, Alexa? Is it really you?

In the flesh... well in the head.

You always were mental. Where the hell are you and your sister?

Look up, Kitty Cas.

There it was. That famous nickname that the twins had given me, Kitty Cas. They thought it was hillarious, and other than the twins, only Logan knew about it. We couldn't share it with anyone, since back at the rouge base it was considered a sign of affection to give nicknames and if they heard it we would never be able to see eachother again. We had always used it in our Mind link. I had forgotten that that was Alexa's gift. She could create mind links with people, groups. The four of us used to get in so much trouble with that thing.

I smiled huge and looked up above me in the trees. Alexa and Alexis had always been great climbers.

Above us, they sat on opposite branches, swinging their legs and smiling at me. It was almost creepy, they were dressed identically and looked like mirror images of each other. I just shook my head and said "Looks like we've got a little company, Logan."
