Luna for the Wrong Pack ('Luna' #2)

Chapter 7

"Mates! Lets tell her about mates first!" Annabell said, and I was fine with that I wanted to know about mates. 

"Then Gifts! Oooo What if she has one!" Aubrey adds on. Gifts?

"And then pups! And claim marks!" Annabell keeps going, back and forth with Aubrey listing off things I had either never heard of before, of had been taught the weren't real. Everything was going so fast and Montanna must have noticed.

"You two stop that! You're scaring Cassie to death. Remember she isn't used to all this, we need to go slow for her. Why don't we just let her ask questions then we can fill in anything else when shes done?" Montanna suggests to them. I like her, she would make a good friend. She seems loyal.

They all look at me, mostly they look excited as they wait for my first question. I think for a second before asking, "What are mates? They always tought us they weren't real, just fake stories parents used to tell their kids..." I trail off as I wait for an answer. They all think for a second before Montanna speaks, "It's a soulmate. Those two wolves, were literally made for eachother.  Afer the bond is finished, the two can comunicate though their minds, thats called a mind link, and they get these really cool marks on their wrists if they're alpha blood. And if one mate dies, the other can die from loosing their mate, like swans! It's so romantic. Mates would do anything for eachother. Sometimes wolves reject their mates, I don't really understand how that's even possible or why you would want to, but ya and the other wolf could actuall die from the rejection. But that doesn't happen very often, like every fifty years, maybe."

Rejection? That was never mentioned in the stories. I cring at the thought, someone you were made for not wanting you? I can't imagine the pain...

"And once you complete the bond, you can shift! and you can feel eachothers feelings!" Annabell shouts happily.

"How do you "complete the bond"?" I ask, putting air quotes around the 'comeplete the bond' part. the three of them look at each other nervously, then Aubrey and Annabell both just give Montanna a look, like their saysing "You tell her" through their minds. For all I know they are.

"Well first.. you meet eachother and you just know thats them." Annabell says, then looks at Aubrey to take it away.

"Then he marks you... by biting your neck. It leaves a spot, usually a paw or cresant moon or a heart of something, that is if they're your real mate." Aubrey says then looks at Montanna nervously. Montanna gulps nervously and wipes her hands on her jeans before starting to say it.

"Well ... Then you .... And he ... and ... well .... it's sorta ..." She stutters before spitting it out, rather fast. "Then you have sex and BAM you're mated!" She yells, squeezing her eyes shut and scrunching her nose. She opens her eyes slowly to see me and giggles, "But you can't actually mate until your sixteen. Before then it won't complete it, he can still claim you, you just can't finish the deed. It's like something about your wolf wouldn't be ready for the stress that early on and it could affect weather you can shift or not. So don't go sleeping with Sam for another year will ya? He might be old enough but you aren't so I don't want you hurting my bro or his wolf." Shae says, smirking at me at the end comment.

"Can we please move on?" Annabell says, when I look over at her I see her cheeks are bright red. I giggles slightly, but still feel bad for her.

"You said something about gifts earlier? What's that?" I ask, and at that Aubrey Burst into a huge grin.

"I'll show you!" She squeals as she jumps up and runs outside, pulling me behind her. She pulls me to a clearing with a small stream running through it, Montanna and Avery comming behind us, and stands in the middle with her back to me. "Watch this!" She yells before turning around and holding her hand out in front of her, slowly I notice her hand shaking and looking like it's grasping at something, I inch my way to her and just as I get to her a bubble of water floats up from the stream and just floats in mid-air in front of her.

"How is that even possible?!"  I question, then look over at Montanna and Avery, "Can you do this too?" I say pointing to the bubble. They all giggle.

"I'm a shifter, so really I can shift into any animal I want. I can't do other humans though, their to hard for me to get yet." Annabell says smiling huge, next thing I know theres a leopard in her place that hops over to me playfully and rubs its head against my leg, purring. I look up at montanna with a questioning look, "What about you?"

"I'm an energy. I can drain it from something or someone or I can shoot energy at something. I can ever give energy, but that's hard and very tiring. So is draining animals or wolves or humans. Which makes it practically impossible on Annabell over here." Montanna says glaring at Annabell as she shifts back to human, Annabell giggles in responce.

"Isaac is an element too, like me, but instead of water he controles plants and earth. Mom can controle anything though, earth, plants, wind, fire, water, anything. And Sam an element too, he got wind and weather, which is cool but whenever he gets too mad it gets really hot out and when he's sad it rains till he chears up, so we try to keep him happy." Aubrey says and glances between Annabell and Montanna before continuing as she lowers the bubble of water back into the stream, "We kinda were thinkging you might be fire... You're power tends to match you're personality somehow. I'm calm, so water, Isaac is a good leader, mommy said thats a trait of earth elements and Sam is good at keeping a level head in a crisis, but when he's mad, he's mad. And that goes with all his emotions. Plus I think he's bipolar so.... But anyways, Annabell is very ... diverse I guess... and loving. Montanna is loyal, which you have to be to be an energy or you know they'd be a power tyrant. We thought you might be a fire because you were always fiesty." She smirks at the comment about my being fiesty and Montanna snickers.

"Well how do I find out?"
