Chapter 36

A/N: This story is going to end at Chapter 40! However I plan on doing a sequel as I've already got ideas for it. I would love to know what you all think of this story. The title of Sequel will be revealed in the beginning of Chapter 38. I'm almost done with Chapter 37 (it's a big one) and will post it later tonight. If my friends have their way then 38 will be posted tomorrow evening sometime.  Let me know what you are all thinking so far! ;) 

Lucas POV

Today was Maya's 18th Birthday and I had a very special night planned for her. Even though I was just getting over what McKenzie and her were sick with I didn't want it to get into the way of her special day. Luckily I didn't get it as bad as they did. Since Maya's birthday fell on a Wednesday I figured that we could stay in a hotel here in the city that had a suite with a hot tub in it. The plan was to get dinner and then go to the hotel afterwards. I bought Maya a beautiful heart shaped locket with diamonds, had it engraved with the first day we met, and included a picture of the two of us from one of the times she visited me in Texas. The picture was of Maya on my back which we had my dad take of us. I loved that picture and thought it would be perfect for the locket. I couldn't wait to give it to her. I arrived at her place at 4:30PM and when she opened the door the sight of her nearly took my breath away. She was wearing a beautiful black dress and had her hair down which flowed beautifully down her shoulders. 

"You look stunning." I said to her as soon as I could muster up the words to speak.  "Happy Birthday, beautiful." 

"You look quite handsome yourself." she replied with a smile. "And thank you my Huckleberry Stud muffin." 

"You and your nicknames." I chuckled.

"I have to grab my bags and then I'll be ready." she said but before she could walk away I grabbed her arm and pulled her towards me placing a soft kiss on her lips. 

She looked at up at me and smiled "We can do more of that later, Huckleberry." she replied before walking off. 

I helped Maya grab her things and then together we walked out to her car. It only took us about 20 minutes to get to the place we were going to eat at. I decided on Steak and she settled on chicken dinner. I was so glad that we didn't have too long of a wait. After dinner we went to the hotel which didn't take us long at all to check into. I was so glad when we were finally in our room and could enjoy the rest of the night together. I grabbed the small box out which contained her necklace out of my pocket and walked over to her where she was seated on the bed. I sat down beside and looked into her beautiful blue eyes.

"I have something for you." I said to her and she looked up at me. 

"A present?" she said and her eyes lit right up in excitement. 

"Yes. Happy Birthday, I love you." I said as I kissed her softly and handed her the box. 

Maya took the box out of my hands and began to open it. I watched as her face went from excitement to pure awe over the necklace. 

"Make sure you open it up to see what is inside." I said to her. She nodded and continued began to open up the locket. 

When she saw the picture she looked up at me and tear slipped down her cheek but she was smiling.  She placed her hand on my cheek and kissed me softly before wiping the tear a way. 

"Thank you so much Lucas. I love it, it's so beautiful." she sniffled. 

"I'm glad you like it, I also had it engraved on the back with the date we met." I said and then leaned to kiss her again. 

"I hope you know how much you mean to me."  she replied. 

I took my hand tilted her head up so she was looking at me "I think I do and I hope you know how much you mean to me too." I said before giving her a small kiss. 

"I love you with my whole heart and soul. I don't know what I'd do without you." she said and I heard her sniffle again. "You're honestly the best thing to ever happen to me." 

"You're the best thing to ever happen to me too. I'm so thankful for you. You've changed me into a better person." 

"It's getting kind of late. Why don't we go relax in the hot tub for a little bit." she suggested. 

"I think that sounds great." I replied. 

Maya and I changed into our swimming attire and then got into the hot tub. She looked so cute with her hair up in a bun and in her cute little bikini. We got in and she sat down beside me and cuddled into me. I put my arm around and massaged her arm with my thumb. 

"Thanks for tonight, Huckleberry." she said breaking the silence. 

"Of course. I had to treat my blonde beauty to a good birthday." I said and she chuckled. 

"You outdid yourself tonight you know." 

"Yeah I know but you deserve it." I replied. 

"You're definitely a keeper." she said as she looked up at me with a smile. 

"I would hope so." I said and then kissed her cheek. 

Maya and I relaxed in the hot tub for a little while longer. We knew that eventually we had to get out due to having school the next day. We decided at around 9:30 that it would probably be a good time to get out that way we could cuddle a little bit before bed. I went into the bathroom and changed out of my swim trunks when I realized I had forgot to grab my PJ's. I walked out and stopped dead in my tracks as I saw Maya in nothing but a towel. She was taken the bun out of her hair and I watched as she moved her head making her hair fall perfectly down her shoulders. She looked up at me and smiled. I walked over to her lifted her chin before placing a passionate kiss on her lips. I dropped my towel and then hers. She looked up at me and I could tell by the look on her face that she wanted it too. After we finished Maya and I got our showers then cuddled in bed for the rest of the night. The night ended on such a perfect note. I'm so glad that Maya loved her gift.
