Chapter 38

A/N: The title of the sequel is going to be called "Destiny".

Maya POV

"It's nothing. Lets go dance." I said as I grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the dance floor.

"Maya what's going on?" Lucas said to me.

"Nothing is going on. Lets just enjoy ourselves." I snapped.

Lucas didn't press me any further but I could tell he was bothered and wanting to know what was going on. I knew that I was going to have to tell him eventually but right now I just wanted to enjoy my prom. I told Lucas that I was going to help Riley with her make up and he went back to the table with Farkle. Once he was out of sight Riley took me down to her dad's classroom instead of the locker room which I assumed was because she wanted to talk more with me.

"Maya, how did this happen? I thought you were on the pill." Riley asked as she locked the door behind her.

"I am on the pill but remember a month ago when I came down with that horrible head cold and had to be put on anit-biotic?" I replied.

"Oh no, why didn't you have him use a condom?" she asked.

"We got really caught up in the moment. I hadn't even thought of it RIles." I said as the tears began to run down my cheeks. "Lately we hadn't been using them because I'm on the pill. I wasn't even thinking about the anit-biotic effecting anything."

"Listen Peaches, Lucas loves you. You told me before that you have had discussions about your future together. You need to tell him." she replied.

"I know I do Riles. But I want to wait until after Prom. I just want to at least try and enjoy the night." I replied. "Who knows how he is going to react. He's so excited about being accepted into the new school."

"You know what Maya? He loves you. Just talk to him." she replied.

"I will. Lets do your make up and get back out there." I answered.

I touched up Riley's make up the best that I could do and then we left the classroom. She made sure to lock everything up and then we made our way back to the gym. I turned to look at her and smiled.

"Riles?" I said and she stopped to look at me.

"Yes?"

"I love you. Thanks for being there for me." I said as I hugged her.

"I love you too, Peaches." she replied.

Riley and I entered the gym and went to sit down by by our men. Lucas gave me a look as if he was wondering if I was okay. I nodded to him with a smile and placed my hand on his. We were all chatting among each other and every time a good song came on we would go dance. At one point it was Riley and I dancing on the floor together as Farkle and Lucas looked on. As the night went on I tried to fake enjoy myself. It was around 10:00 when they were going to announce the Prom King and Queen along with the runner ups.

"The first runner up boy and girl are Farkle Minkus and Riley Matthews" Mr Turner said as he read off the envelope.

I started cheering very loudly. I was so happy for Riley and Farkle. Next up was the Prom King and Queen. I stood there and looked on as Mr. Turner opened up the envelope.

"2017 Prom King and Queen are Lucas Friar and Maya Hart." he said and I smiled looking up at Lucas who took my hand as we walked to the stage.

Once they crowned us and took some pictures we were sent to the dance floor to dance. This night would have been so perfect had I waited to take that pregnancy test after the Prom was over with but I knew that I would have anxiety the entire night if I didn't. Once we all got done dancing we went back to the table and sat down. Lucas started talking about what our lives were going to be like once we graduated and all I could do was sit there hoping I could keep down my dinner. He was so excited about the future and here I was about to ruin everything. Riley was talking about how she was going to go to school to become a teacher just like her Dad, Farkle wanted to become a Medical Technologist, and well we already knew what Lucas wanted to be. I finally had enough of the conversation and couldn't stomach to hear anymore of it.

"I got to go." I said as I stood up from the table and took off out of the gymnasium. I knew that I wasn't going to be able to get out of there without Lucas on my trail.

"Maya! Wait." he yelled as I took off down the hallway, out through the lobby and into the parking lot. I was fumbling with the keys trying to get into my car before he caught up to me but wasn't fast enough.

"Just let me go." I said as I unlocked the door but he grabbed the keys out of my hand and shut the door on me.

"No. You are going to tell me what is gong on with you." he said as I heard the car lock shut.

"I don't want to do this here." I replied.

"You aren't leaving her until you tell me what the hell is going on. Are you unhappy that I got accepted into NYU? Is that what it is?" he said and I could tell he was starting to get really annoyed.

"Of course I'm happy for you Lucas!" I yelled and the tears started flowing.

"Then what is the matter? Why are you crying?" he asked and he looked completely defeated.

"I've ruined your life. I'm pregnant." I muttered.

"You....you.. you're what?" he stuttered. "How did this happen?"

"My 18th birthday is when it happened." I replied to her.

"But HOW did this happen. You were on the pill!" He yelled and I could tell he wasn't happy about this.

"I was sick remember! I was on antibiotic. I wasn't thinking about it effecting my birth control pill." I said to him.

"Oh so you didn't have me put on a fucking condom?" he said anger showing his voice. "Are you really that dumb?"

"Please give me my keys." I mumbled.

Lucas threw the keys to me "Here take the keys and get the hell out of my life." he said and I jumped back. The tears were flowing and by the time I got into the car I was sobbing. I don't know how I did it but I managed to drive all the way home. This was it for me and Lucas.
