Chapter 37

Maya POV

The end of the school year was soon approaching as it was already the middle of May. Tonight was prom night and I couldn't wait to take Lucas as my date. Riley and I had went prom dress shopping with our mothers. It was such a fun occasion trying to find that perfect dress. I had gone to prom before but this time it was a lot more special being that my date was my first real boyfriend whom I loved with all my heart. I went over to the Matthews apartment to pick up Riley so that we could go and get our hair done. I was greeted at the door by Cory who had a big smile on his face. 

"Hello, Maya!" he said as he opened the door. 

"Hi Matthews! Where is Riles?" 

"She's in her room. Are you excited for prom tonight?" 

"I'm so excited!" I replied happily. 

I stepped inside and made my way to Riley's room and found her sitting on her bed looking at er phone. 

"You ready to go Riles?" I said causing her to look up at me. 

"Yes, I am Peaches. I was just sending a text to Farkle." she replied. 

"Lets go! What ideas do you have for your hair?" I asked her as we walked out of her bedroom. 

"I'm doing an up do." she replied. "Not sure what kind yet." 

"You girls have fun!" Topanga said as we walked into the living room.

"We will. I'll text you later, Mom." Riley said as she gave her mom a hug. 

"Sounds good." Topanga answered. 

Riley and I went off to the salon to get our nails and hair done. We both had the stylist do our hair in up do. I was finished before Riley so while I waited for Riley I ran to near by store to grab something really quick and by the time I got back Riley was finished. 

"Looking beautiful Riles" I said with a grin.

"Thanks peaches, so are you." she replied as she handed the girl her money. 

After we got our hair done Riley and I stopped somewhere to get some lunch. We were both starving. Once we ate I took Riley home and then went home myself so I could get changed. We were all going to get dinner before the prom night started. I grabbed the bag from the shop I went to earlier and went into the bathroom to do my make up. Mom was going to help me with the eye part of it but I was able to do my own face make up. I changed into my dress then walked out to the living room where Mom was waiting for me. 

"Maya you look beautiful. " she said as she stood up from the couch. 

"Thanks, Mom. " I replied to her. 

"Are you okay?" she asked me. 

"Yep, I'm fine!" I replied to her. "You ready to do your make up?" 

Mom did my make up for me and she did such an amazing job on it. I changed into my prom dress which was a beautiful white dress. I couldn't wait for Lucas to see me tonight. He arrived at shortly after 4:30 looking as hot as ever. 

"Maya, wow you to take my breath away with how beautiful you are." Lucas replied as he walked up to me. 

"You look so hot in this suit. I have my own Huckleberry Bond." I said with a smile. 

"Since you are wearing white and anything goes with white I got you a purple corsage." he said as he handed me the box with the beautiful flower in it. "I will help you put it on. 

After Lucas put on the corsage Mom took some pictures then the three of us went to Lucas's house to see his Mom and Kenzie, then off to the Matthews apartment so that we could get pictures with Riley and Farkle. It was our senior prom and we wanted to make memories of it. After pictures Riley, Farkle,  Lucas, and I went to dinner. Prom didn't start until 8:00 so having dinner before that worked out really well. 

"So I have some news for all of you." Lucas said as we sat around the table waiting for our dinner. 

I looked over at him giving him a questionable look "Oh yeah? Why am I just now hearing about this?" I asked him. 

"Because I wanted to tell you guys together." he answered. 

"Well go on, don't keep us waiting." I said to him. 

"I got an acceptance letter to NYU for their veterinary program." he replied and I honestly felt like I was going to be sick. 

"Congratulations, Huckleberry!" I exclaimed trying to make it not so obvious. "I'm so happy for you." 

Riley looked over at me and then back at Lucas "Congrats Lucas! That's amazing." she replied. 

"Congrats man, that's incredible news." Farkle chimed in. 

After eating our dessert and paying for everything the four of us headed off to the school. Prom was going to start in 30 minutes. We got caught up in a little bit of traffic and were a little late but it was fine that didn't matter. Riley kept looking at me the entire time in the limo. I just ignored her and carried on joining in on the conversation that we were all having as Lucas drove us to the school. 

We arrived at the school after locking up the car Lucas grabbed my hand into his and together we all walked into our senior prom. The junior class did an amazing job with the decorations. It looked beautiful. We all went over to table and sat down. 

"I'm so excited about this Veterinarian program that NYU has to offer. I did a lot of research before applied there. I was honestly thinking I wouldn't get in." Lucas said excitedly. 

"It's wonderful Lucas! Our next step is look into apartments." I replied and he looked at me with a grin. 

"Of course. That's next on the list." he said with a smile. 

"You guys are going to live together?" Riley said to us. 

"Yes, that's the plan. Why wouldn't we?" I questioned. 

"Oh, it makes total sense to me that you guys would live together." Riley said and she gave me another one of those questionable looks again. 

"Yeah, Maya I don't think Riley meant anything by asking that." Farkle chimed in. 

"I never said that she did?" I said . 

"You were just quick get on the defensive about it." Farkle repleid "That's all. No big deal." 

"Yeah Maya what's going on with you. Are you okay?" Lucas asked and I rolled my eyes at him.

"Yes, I'm fine." I said and kissed him on the cheek. 

"Hey Maya why don't you come with me for a minute. I need you to help me touch up my make up. " Riley said as she stood up and grabbed my hand. 

I didn't want anyone to get suspicious so I went with her.  We stopped outside of the locker room and she turned to face me. 

"Maya, whats going on with you?" she asked. 

"Nothing. Lets go do your make up." I replied as I went to walk into the bathroom but she stopped me. 

"Don't lie to me. Something has been up with you since dinner when Lucas told everyone about being accepted to NYU." she said to me. 

"There is nothing wrong with me. Lets just go." I replied as I grabbed her arm. 

"Maya." she said in a stern voice. 

"Fine. You know whats wrong with me? Lucas just got into a great college and I've ruined his life. I'm pregnant." I blurted out in a loud whisper. "But it's okay because he's not going to know." 

I looked up at Riley as the tears ran down my face. She had a sympathetic look on her face and put her arms around me. "It's going to be okay but Maya, you need to tell him." she said as she hugged me tightly

"Tell me what?" Lucas said and I broke away from the hug so fast and looked at him as tears rolled down my face.  I prayed that because it was dark in the gym that he didn't notice I was crying.
