Josh let the tip of the ice cold beer bottle sit against his lips, gulping down some of the toxic liquid and pursing his lips together, dropping his arms lazily to the side as he scowled in disapproval. He took his phone out from his back pocket one more time in the last thirty seconds to check for a text from Tyler, who had promised not to leave him alone, and found nothing new in their chat log.

'Please text me back, you Jackass. Where tf are you?!?!' He sent to Tyler, scowling as he slipped the phone back into his pocket. He didn't really know most of the people in here, and he didn't like the people that he did know. Tyler's been his best friend since they met in kindergarten, and Josh has just stuck to him like glue since then. Nobody understood him like Tyler did, or made him feel as appreciated. He just wished Tyler wasn't so damn popular. People constantly interrupted their conversations and just brushed him aside as though he wasn't even standing beside Tyler at all. He was kind of sick of having to keep letting go of his best friend because of these ignorant high schoolers.

He took another swig from the beer bottle, walking towards the kitchen in the hopes of finding Tyler eating. When Josh did find him, he intended to kick Tyler's ass and handcuff himself to Tyler so that he wouldn't slip away again. To his disappointment, Tyler wasn't in the kitchen.

Someone at the refrigerator door shut it, holding a six pack in her hands. Her tank top showed off her bust a little too clearly and her shorts were small enough for you to question whether they're shorts at all. Josh immediately recognizes the brunette as Melanie --- Tyler's girlfriend.

"Hey Josh," she said a little too dryly. Josh knew she never liked him because he spent more time with her boyfriend than she did. "You looking for Tyler?" She questioned, almost reading his lost expression. She sauntered past him, not waiting for a response because she already knew the answer.

"He's in the basement with the rest of us. We're playing truth or dare," she said, pausing and turning to Josh with a wide smile, almost as fake as the tan coating her body. "You should join us. It'll be fun."

Josh shook his head, taking another sip from his beer. "I'll just wait out here until he's done." He wasn't really in the mood to socialize with her condescending clique.

"He's probably gonna be another hour or so. Nobody's leaving there for a while." Josh couldn't wait a whole hour to see Tyler and stand around here all by himself, so with a weak sigh her accepted and followed her to the basement.

The lighting was dim and about eight or nine people sat around a carpet, with Tyler resting his back against the sofa behind him and laughing softly. He beamed a little brighter seeing Josh return with Melanie.

Before Josh could, Melanie occupied the slim space beside Tyler and placed the six pack in the center to the cheers of a few people who grabbed at them like a lifeline. Josh took a seat on the floor and crossed his legs.
