Chapter 7: Danika

DANIKA

"Well?"

"Nope, nothing. Chiron told me he dint recieve anything from dad to give to you,"

I looked down, feeling bummed. Percy had asked Chiron to give whatever dad wanted me to have to him so that i could practice for capture the flag tomorrow. I guess being one of the only children of Poseidon didnt mean he had time for us.

I sighed heavily.

"Oh, its okay sis'... you can use one of the swords in the armory,"

"Okay," i said, trying to put on my best fake smile.

Percy handed me a sword that was too heavy and big at the same time, making practice seem not so interesting. Percy taught me a few things about sword fighting, then later on he tried teaching me how to splash my enemies with water.

"Okay, just try again. You'll get it right this time," Percy told me for the millionth time.

I stood in the water trying my best to concentrate on splashing Percy with water. I closed my eyes real tight for a few moments but nothing happened. The best i could do was just ripple the water a little.

I got out of the water as i felt myself drying up, "Atleast i can do one thing right," i told myself. I sat down feeling really tired, controlling water isnt easy, even for a daughter of Poseidon.

"Its alright sis', you'll get it right next time." Percy told me.

He sat down beside me giving me a reassuring smile, trying to cheer me up. I couldnt help but smile back, i mean, it wasnt his fault im really bad at controlling water.

Athena had made an alliance with Apollo, Hermes, Poseidon and Hades; Ares allied themselves with the others.

"... Arm yourselves!"

At that phrase, Chiron spread his hands and the tables were now filled with helmets, swords, armor and spears.

"Cool," i said.

Percy handed me a really heavy shield that i could barely lift and a helmet with a blue plume. I grabbed a bronze sword from the table and marched with the others to the south woods.

As i walked beside Percy, i asked him,

"So, who's encharge of stealing the red team's flag? Hermes?"

"No. They already figured we would use the Hermes kids to get the flag, so we're using a different strategy. Apollo and Hades,"

"Who?"

"Your friend, Raili, and Nico from the Hades cabin."

"What!?" i yelled,

"Relax, it was never Annabeth's intention to put Raili in that position. But Will insisted Raili would be perfect," he said reassuringly.

"And Annabeth agreed to that?"

"Athena always has a plan," he said, mimicking Annabeth.

Percy and i stood there near a creek and waited. Moments later, the conch horn blew from afar, and i heard yelling from the north. I caught a glimpse of Raili and Nico running towards the red team.

"So, we just wait here until reds come and take the flag?" i said, looking at the dark forest hearing the clashing of swords and more yelling.

Percy dint answer.

Terrified that Percy had left me here, i looked around to see something more terryfing. One of the Ares kids grabbed Percy around the neck with her arms. There were atleast 5 of them, all with nasty looks on their faces armed with spears.

"Looks like your little sister is in real trouble now, Percy." the girl holding him said, raising her spear to his neck.

"Dont do this, Angelique!" Percy said, trying to break away, but it was no use.

"Get her!" Angelique yelled.

Her 4 other sisters charged one by one pointing their spears at me. Not knowing what to do, i held my enormous shield hoping it would be of help. One of them hit my shield with so much force i dropped it. She pushed me near the creek making me land really hard on the ground.

I felt something on my hand, then i remembered i still had the sword in my hand. Before one of them could hit me with their spear, i dodged it with my sword making her let go of her spear. I used this chance to hit her with the other end of my sword. I hit her hard at her side making her lay in pain.

"Nooo!" one of them yelled, kicking me on the chest.

I fell in the water with a huge splash, i could still here Percy scream 'no' when i suddenly blacked out.

When i woke, i was still in the water, and by the looks of it, i only blacked out for a few seconds. I got up for air, only to find Percy getting beat up. Anger rose inside me, i knew i had to stop them.

"GET AWAY FROM HIM!" i yelled.

Angelique and her sisters and even Percy looked towards my direction. I saw Angelique sneer as she screamed,

"Get her now!"

I just stood there as the four of them ran towards me, i guess i forgot that i couldnt fight them.

Suddenly, i felt something in my hand. I looked down, it wasnt my sword, it was a huge shell that fit in my hand for some reason.

"Throw it," i heard a voice call out in my head.

Not knowing what else to do, i threw the shell at them and to my surprise, it stopped them. When the shell broke, a huge wave of water came out of it splashing them really hard including Angelique. The water subsided and went back into the broken shell, forming into a regular shell again.

I saw Anelique's sisters lay, knocked out. Percy slowly got up while his clothes dried, bruises healing.

"NO! This cannot be happening," said a very soaking wet Angelique.

She grabbed one of her sister's spears and charged towards me. Now i was really in trouble. I felt something else in my right hand, but i knew it wasnt the shell. It was a very sharp celestial bronze sword which balanced well in my hand.

I flung the sword at Angelique stopping her from hitting me. I hit the spear again making her drop it. I felt the water move as water splashed Angelique on the face.

I looked down feeling the sword turn into gold dust and finally it was no where to be found.

"Thanks dad," i whispered.

"Danika!" i heard Percy call out.

I looked up to find Percy just stand there, i knew he was proud. I ran towards him and hugged him.

"Youre safe!" i said, still hugging him.

"I am now, thanks to you."

I let go of the hug and smiled.

"I knew you could do it," he added.

Suddenly, cheers cried out, ruining a perfectly good moment with my big brother.

Raili and Nico had made it to the boundary line carrying the red team's banner held high.

We had won.
