DANIKA

I was walking to the Apollo cabin to ask Raili about the rumors when i heard laughing, mostly teasing. I hid behind another cabin and peeped, a group of girls were laughing and pointing at a now red-faced Raili.

Lourdes and her gang, obviously.

"Nico is hot, but i wonder about the man's taste in women." Lourdes said.

They all laughed except Raili, who was looking down at her shoes trying not cry. I had to do something about it.

"Hey! Stop that!" i said, getting out of my hiding place.

They all turned around staring directly at me.

"Jackson!" Lourdes said, her voice was sweet.

I felt anger rise up inside. Percy was my brother, but you cant just call me Jackson, it felt wrong.

She smiled then continued.

"Percy, a wonderful man, we could have made a perfect match! But, instead, he chooses a worthless know-it-all named Annabeth!"

I clenched my fists, ready to break her neck.

"Oh, stop Jackson. Do you really think you can take on me?"

"Whats the best you can do, put lipstick on me?"

She just laughed as her sisters backed away. I mouthed for Raili to cover her ears.

"Youre not friends with Raili, you hate her. You want to join our group and become one of us..." she blabbered on using a sweet soothing voice.

She was trying to charmspeak me. Unfortunately, it wasnt working.

"Charmspeak wont work, Aphrodite!" i told her.

"Oh, really?" she said in her soothing tone, but i could feel the shakiness in her voice. "Slap yourself."

I just looked at her, cocking an eyebrow.

"I said, slap yourself!" she shouted.

Her voice was so loud, her own sisters slapped themselves repeatedly.

"What? No, stop!"

Her sisters stopped slapping themselves and rubbed their head, confused.

"I'll get you for this, Jackson." she said through clenched teeth, "Come on," she told her sisters.

I sat on the cold December grass while Raili walked in a circle behind me.

"How'd you do that?" she asked.

"Do what?"

"The charmspeak..."

"Look, Raili, as much as i want to tell you. I cant," i told her,

"Why not!?" she asked, wanting answers.

"Because..."

"Because what!?"

"Because nothing! Ugh, fine! I'll tell you alright!?" i said, annoyed now.

She nodded and sat down beside me. I looked at her, then sighed.

"Charmspeaking," i began, "have weaknesses too. If you are of the same gender, then you are unaffected. Also, if you have strong wills and intentions."

She looked at me confused.

"Then, why did you tell me to cover my ears? Why were Lourdes' sisters affected? Why werent you affected?" she asked,

"Because, it still works, but not as much if youre of the same gender." i answered,

"But, you... you dont have a strong will or any intentions, do you?" she asked.

I dint answer.

"Do you?" she asked again.

I dint answer. Instead, i shrugged.

"Come on," i said, "Lets get out of here. The cold's killing me,"
