Something Forbidden

Chapter 5: Raili

RAILI

I sat on my bed drawing on my sketchpad while Cheska was listening to music, i guess we were really into what we were doing because we hadnt noticed Will until he tapped us on the shoulder.

"Hey, i got something for you guys." he said after he had gotten our attention,

"What is it?" i asked.

He gestured for both of us to follow him to the back of the cabin.

"Here," he said, handing me a paintbrush and a flute for Cheska.

"Uhm, thanks..."

"Yeah, one of the Hermes kids stole these from Chiron which he was going to give to you. I decided to give it to you guys earlier so we can practice,"

"Uhm... practice... playing the flute and using a paintbrush?"

"No, silly. Those are your weapons!" he said as if it was that clear,

"Oh... but, why do we need practice?" i asked.

"For capture the flag tomorrow, of course."

"What!? We're joining that? But we just got here... sort of."

He just shrugged and he went farther away from the cabins and made us use our weapons. After so many failed attempts, Will tried fighting me with a sword.

He lashed out on me missing me by a hair. I fell to the ground about to get killed by my own brother. He raised his sword about to slice me when i kicked him giving me some time to get back on my feet. I looked around trying to find the paintbrush i had dropped when i fell. Will got up and started running towards me, not knowing what to do, i grabbed the paintbrush, and tried to save myself from being killed.

I closed my eyes as i heard a gasp and heavy breathing, i opened my eyes and my jaw had dropped. The paintbrush i was holding was now a spear with a bronze tip. It had some cloth hanging near the blade.

When Will saw the spear, he dropped his sword and smiled, like he planned this all along. When i saw him drop the sword, i calmed down a little knowing he wont try and kill me. I felt the spear grow lighter, i looked at it and found a regular paintbrush in my hands.

"Good job," Will said, "Have a break, you deserve it."

I gave a smile knowing that i did well and headed back inside the cabin while it was Cheska's turn to feel panicked.

I kept staring at my new paintbrush as i walked back when suddenly someone hit me on the shoulder. I looked up and froze... it was Nico.

"I- im sorry, i wasnt looking." i muttered.

"Its fine, really," he said and stared at me for a while then asked,"Are you new here?"

"Ugh, yeah. Apollo Cabin,"

"Oh, cool. By the way, the names Nico, Nico di Angelo. Hades Cabin." he said, stretching out a hand for me to shake.

"Raili, Raili Kreffer." i said, shaking his hand.

"So, i better get going. See you later i guess,"

"Okay,"

He smiled just before leaving, i walked back to the cabin in a really good mood.
