Max
"Alright, class, I expect you to have the steps of the hair dye process written out by tomorrow!" Hayley says, snapping me out of a trance. I have no idea what these steps are. Oh well. I'll have someone else explain it to me tonight in the dorms.

The bell rings, and I stroll out of yet another class of daydreaming. I can't get Andy off my mind, and it's bugging me. The part that really bugs me is that he's the vice principal. The vice principal! I'm going nuts... over a teacher!

I keep forgetting to call my teachers by their first names. That's just what they seem to prefer around here.
I'm headed to Brendon's class when I suddenly feel something slam hard against my shoulder. I keep walking, muttering a barely audible "Sorry" before continuing on my way, but then I feel a hand on my shoulder, stopping me. I turn around to see an exhausted Mr. Wentz... wait, no... Pete. An exhausted Pete.

"No need for you to apologize, Max," he says, out of breath, "it was my fault, sweetie. Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'll be fine." My shoulder hurts a little, but with time it should fix itself.

"You sure? I could take you down to the office."

"No, it's fine, I'll take her, Pete." a voice says from behind me, one that I know all too well. I guess you could say he's quite literally the man of my dreams.

"I'll be fine, guys, I need to get to class-"

"No. You're getting some ice on that." Andy says. "I saw the impact, that's going to bruise. Either get some ice on it or go see Patrick. One of the two."

I groan. This man, I swear. He always manages to show up at the time I least want him to see me, and he makes a show out of being a gentleman and taking care of me, which is irresistibly hot.

And that's my problem. I feel like I'm going to lose all control whenever I'm around him, like my heart is going to pound its way out out my chest and explode, setting free the butterflies in my stomach to fly away and let him know how I really feel about him.

My head begins to spin. So much is happening, and I don't know what do do. Suddenly, I feel the ground practically flying toward my face.

"Whoa, Maxie!" Andy almost yells, and I feel two pairs of strong arms catch me before the my face meets the ground. Everything is starting not to make sense, words only seem like meaningless sound. My vision begins to get spotty.

I do, however, manage to hear one thing:

"To Patrick she goes." he says, looking at Pete, whom I can vaguely make out nodding.

He picks me up bridal style and carries me off to the office, practically running. My vision begins to go black.

Just like the day we met. Except he doesn't smile at me this time. He looks at me with an expression of concern and tells me to hang on.

And that's when I was completely surrounded by darkness.
