Our private plane took us to Melbourne, and on the way, I caught a few hours of dreamless sleep. I was getting more and more nervous every minute. This was the first mission that I had to go to school and socialize with kids my age. I do not know what to say. I do not know the terms they use.
The plane landed and we got our things then got out. A nice cool breeze greeted us as we exited. The sky was blue and the sun wasn't shining, probably hidden behind the white clouds. A butler came over and took our bags to the black Audi R8 V10 Coupe waiting for us. James got in the driver's seat whilst I got in the passenger seat.
We drove off and I turned the radio on. A song entitled Through The Dark came on and it was catchy.
"So," James started. "Let's talk about our cover story. How do you want it to be?"
I thought about it for a moment. I've never had a cover story before. I could say I was adopted, which is true, or I was an only child, also true.
"Let's just say I'm adopted and you're my dad and that mom left us. That one's easy." I say.
"If that's what you want," He sighed. "I'll ask you a few questions. What is your name?"
"Adrianne Horan." My usual undercover name.
"Where are you from?"
"I'm from America."
"Why did you transfer?"
"My dad was offered a job here,"
"Okay, that'll do. You're ready."
I nodded and gave him a smile.
We stopped infront of a big four story house. The porch was wide, with nice lights on each side. The windows were white and tall with cream colored blinds. The front door was painted brown. There was a backyard as as well.
I got out of the car as did James. I slung my backpack over one shoulder then got out my luggage amd guitar. James, along with his things, lead me inside. The living room was spacious, there was a 42-inch flat screen tv to one side, a long white couch on the other. There were lamps too and bookshelves. I walked towards the kitchen where there was a tall refrigirator, an island, a stove and everyhing you could possibly need.
"Come on, I'll show you to your room." James said from behind me.
I carried my things upstairs. The entire third floor was mine. My bedroom was quite grand. There was a white king size bed, a huge tv right across from where the bed sat. I had a walk-in closet and my own bathroom. There were several bookshelves with so many books I did not know where to start. There was a computer, a dock, and dvds. I had a window seat, where I can view the front yard. There was also a mini ref. I set my things down and explored my floor.
There was a training room. There were weapons on the far side of the room, along with a dummy. The floor on that room was covered with gym mat. There was a gun rack on the left wall, too. Bow and arrows were also present and so were the targets.
I left the room and went back to the bedroom to unpack. I put my iPhone on the dock and played a few songs. I danced to the songs whilst putting things on my closet. By the time I was done, I was tired and it was nightime. I would have to go to school tomorrow. I sat on my window seat, a book in hand. The Selection. I liked the cover very much. It was a red-head wearing a beautiful light blue gown. I loved the story very much. I'd always read books to escape reality and to live another life. My life had always been an adventure and I enjoyed it.
Halfway through the book, I heard a car outside. I peeped through the curtains, careful not to have my cover blown. I saw a Bentley parked outside. The driver got out and walked towards the back of the car. He opened the door and I saw a familiar looking boy. Mr. Hemmings. He was tall and slender. The driver took Luke's bags whilst he followed Luke inside the mansion. Spoiled brat. I always did hate those snotty rich kids. They have hands, so why can't they do things on their own?
"Adrianne! Dinner!" James called from the kitchen.
"Coming!"
I ran down the stairs, jumping off the last few steps.
The kitchen smelt of...pizza.
"Here," James handed me a plate with a slice.
"Thanks," I said whilst chewing on my pizza.
"You should really mind your table manners," He said, eating his pizza.
"What are you, my mom?" I joked.
He chuckled. "Yeah, whatever. Get some sleep tonight, you have school tomorrow."
"Yeah, I think you'll pass up to be mom,"
"Sure, darling. Now go up your room, you'll be taking the bus." He said in a higher voice.
I laughed, finishing my food before going back up. I went to the bathroom to get cleaned up. I changed into pyjamas.
Praying tomorrow will be fine, I slowly drifted off to sleep.
