I opened the door quietly and walked inside. The room was huge with wall to wall windows at the end of the room. There were a few dozen bookshelves in the room and a few wooden tables. The walls were brown wood, giving it a cabin feel.

I walked towards a close bookshelf and looked at the books. They seemed old but was taken good care of. This appeared to be the classics. Romeo amd Juliet. Emma. Pride and Prejudice. Great Expectations.

"Wow." I murmered. I explored the bookshelves and sat down behind one with a book in hand, completely lost in a different world.

"What are you doing here?" I look up to see Luke. He clutched the book in his hand as he looked down on me with an unreadable expression.

"Um, I-I was looking for you." I stammered.

"Why?"

"I don't know. I guess I wanted to know why you were upset," I reply.

"That is none of your business. So get out." He snapped and snatched the book from my hands.

I stood up. "I just thought...."

"You thought what? That after one kiss things will change between us? Please. What did you expect? That we'd be together? Huh? Well you could kiss that thought goodbye 'cause that is never going to happen. So just get your shit out of here and mind your own damn business." He snapped.

My heart dropped to my feet. Was all of that true? How could I have been so stupid. It took every piece of me not to cry. I didn't want him to think of me as a fragile girl.

I fought to keep my tears at bay because having him see me cry is the last thing I need right now.

"Fine. If that's what you want. I just thought that I could change you. Help you. You have everything a person could ever want. But I guess you're too blind to see that. You're hopeless." I reply coldly and I could see hurt in his eyes.

I walked towards the door but stopped.

"I thought you were different. Turns out you're just another jerk." I say then walk out.

I walk downstairs to the living room and found James with Liz and John.

"Uh, James? Can we go now? I'm really tired." I lie.

"Oh, yeah, sure." He said, his eyes asking What's wrong?

I gave him an I'll explain later look.

He stood up.

"Thank you for the lovely dinner," James smiled.

"Anytime." John shook James' hand.

"You should come by sometime, dear. I'd love to have you for company." Liz smiled at me.

"Definitely," I smile back. They walked us out the door and I practically run back home.

I ignore James calling me and run up to my room. I lied down on my bed, clutching a pillow with tears streaming down myface. Not even bothering to chamge out of my dress, I let sleep take over me.

I got up earlier than usual and started to get ready for school. After taking a shower, I put on a pair of black skinny jeans and a plain white shirt and my converse. I shouldered my backpack and went downstairs.

"Hey, kiddo." James greeted me as I slid on a chair at the counter. I merely nodded. I haven't talked to anyone since what happened last saturday.

"Still not talking, I see," He sighed as he handed me a plate of scrambled eggs and bacon. I smiled my thanks. "I talked to Lily. She'll be calling you later afternoon to help you with your boy problems." He emphasized those two words.
