Luke's POV
"What's wrong with you?" Ashton asked as I slammed my tray down the table.
I shrugged. There are a lot of things that are wrong with me. For instance, I'm an asshole. I told Cal that Adrianne didn't mean anything to me and now he's making a move on her. That fucking prick. I knew he had something for her the moment he laid eyes on her.
"I'm guessing this has something to do with Adrianne?" He asks.
"What do you mean?" I ask, opening the orange juice.
"Well, she hasn't come to school yet and Calum has been antsy. What's up with him?" Ashton replied.
Antsy? Oh I'm pretty sure he is.
"He and I had a talk about Adrianne. Told him she didn't mean anything to me, now he's all over her." I stabbed my fork at my food. Now that we were talking about her, I'm not all that hungry.
"What?" Ashton exclaimed. "What do you mean she doesn't mean anything to you? You're into her and we all know it."
I was into her. I was crazy about her. I am. But ever since I felt sure about her, the more she reminded me of Leish. They are so much alike it scares the shit out of me. I'm afraid she'll leave me then I'll be broken again.
No. That's not gonna happen. I won't let it.
"Dude, don't be stupid." I shrug.
"I'm stupid? Bro, you need to man up and move on from the past. She's different," Ashton replied. "You wouldn't have noticed her if she wasn't."
"So was Leish. I thought she was different." I said bitterly.
"Dude, give the girl a chance. She's been nothing but nice to you. You've been leading her on."
"Fine, but I don't th-" I stopped mid sentence when the cafeteria doors burst open.
Adrianne walked in, with new found confidence, the football team surrounding her like paparazzi. She looked different. Her hair was cut and styled in a much better way, make up made her face look dangerous. She wore a white sun dress, a black leather jacket and combat boots.
Everyone in the room had stopped what they were doing and just stared at her.
She was smiling as she walked, kindly replying to whatever the bastards around her were saying. They took a lunch tray for her, picking out random stuff and offering them to her as if she were some goddess. Well she looked like it. Those assholes never even glanced at her once before today and now they're all wrapped up in her finger.
The world seemed to stop when her eyes landed on me. There was that glint in them that I always adored. Glad that didn't change. Her dark blue eyes were standing out thanks to her eyeliner and whatever shit she used.
The shy girl I knew was gone and replaced. Or maybe this side of her was always there but I just didn't notice.
She genuinely smiled at me and gave me a wink and my heart skipped a beat. She flipped her gorgeous brown hair to the side as she walked towards our table. Every step she took, my heart seemed to beat louder.
"Dude, close your mouth before you catch flies." Ashton patted my shoulder.
"He's right, Luke. Won't want to embarass yourself in front of her." Calum said from behind me. He put his tray on the table and pulled out a chair, his eyes never leaving the girl coming towards us. Michael sat down next, busy with his pizza.
"Fuck off." I glared at him and looked back down at my untouched food.
"Hey guys," A girly voice that I had grown to love, said. One of the guys that were following her pulled out a chair for her next to Calum and she smiled at him. His cheeks flushed as he stepped back. Another guy put a tray of food in front of her.
"Thanks, Brad." She smiled at the grinning asshole. After what seemed like a century, they left her alone.
I snorted. Now she's being flirty.
"Something wrong, Luke?" She questioned from across the table.
"Nothing." I continuesly stabbed my salad, refusing to look at her.
"You know, if you have something to say, don't keep it to yourself. Tell it straight to the person. Better tell them the truth, not lead them on." She says.
I froze. What the fuck does she mean?

Adrianne's POV
"You know, if you have something to say, don't keep it to yourself. Tell it straight to the person. Better tell them the truth, not lead them on." I say, digging in to my burger.
Wow. It feels so good to let that out. Luke seemed to be frozen. He sure didn't see that coming.
"Yo, A, why are you late?" Calum asked.
"Oh, I had to go somewhere with my dad." I lie. Lily wanted me to be late for school so that I would make an "entrance". She woke me up at 10 am and I was pissed that she did. I hated having eyes on me and being in the spotlight.
Everyone was suddenly talking to me when I walked in. People who never even talked to me once suddenly wanted to be my friend.
I surely didn't miss the death glares that the cheerleaders were sending me when the football team escorted me to the cafeteria. I didn't want to be rude and make them go away since they were all so sweet and kind, so I just let them. I also didn't miss the way Luke gaped at me. My heart melted at the sight of his blue eyes. My stomach was fluttering with butterflies as I walked towards him. But then I remembered his conversation with Calum.
"Where'd you go?" Mikey asked, his mouth full of pizza.
"Uhm, my aunt just flew in and we had to pick her up." I made up.
"Oh." Mikey absentmindedly replied.
"So, did I miss anything?" I ask.
"Nope. You're lucky you escaped from that geometry test. It squeezed the life out of my brain." Calum said.
"Please," Ashton said. "You can't squeeze something you don't have."
"He's right, Cal." I laughed.
Luke groaned. His eyes were still trained on his food, refusing to look up. His face held an angry and annoyed expression. He grabbed his backpack, slung it over his shoulder and got up.
"Where ya goin', mate?" Ashton asked.
Luke looked back at me, his blue orbs solemly on mine.
"Somewhere only we know,"
