KITTENS POV
Weightless... completely weightless. I felt as though I was floating, almost like the feeling you get when beneath the water, but without the surrounding pressure. The feeling was almost... liberating. There was no pain, no feeling; it was complete nothingness. Slowly I began to open my eyes, my thoughts along with my vision slowly coming back to me, back into focus. 'Where... am I? Not but a few moments ago I was being cared for... and laying in bed together with...-' A soft gasp escaped my lips, the sound echoing around me, bouncing around the emptiness, startling me.
'My protectors. Sans... Papyrus... where were they now? They didn't... they couldn't... did they... abandon me?' I felt something sting deep within the very core of my SOUL, like a memory long buried and forgotten, yet still fresh like an open wound. 'No!' I exclaimed aloud within my own mind, gripping my (H/C) hair tightly with both hands on either side. I don't know what happened in the past, but I know that they care about me. They would never do something so cruel! Not after all we had been through... all that they had been through. No. This had to be some kind of dream! Right? It had to be... wait. 'A dream...?' I thought, squinting my eyes slightly as I began to remember all events prior to this moment.
'That's right!' I nodded with a somewhat relieved smile, the grip on my hair loosening, hands falling back down to float at my sides. 'Sans had given me something to help me sleep before I blacked out.' I slowly shook my head with a halfhearted chuckle. 'I must have been exhausted...' It was then that a sudden thought occurred to me. I knew that I was dreaming!
I've never had a lucid dream before, but I've heard people talk about them, and how cool and fun they could be if the chance was used properly. Looking down at my floating form I immediately took notice that I had all of my limbs! My leg wasn't busted, and my arm was perfectly fine. I could do anything I wanted here! ...couldn't I?
I decided to take a look around, to examine my blank canvas, and see what I had to work with. Everything was pitch black. An empty, and seemingly endless void. An abyss that only grew darker yet darker with every 'step' I took, with not a single light in sight, not even so much as a glow. Floating amidst the darkness with my eyes slowly, cautiously scanning the area, on the lookout for any sign of danger, my heart suddenly stopped for a brief moment. I wasn't alone.
Not but a few feet away... stood a man. A very tall man who seemed to be cloaked within the darkness and that shadows that surrounded us both. He wore a long black cloak, and it was so long in fact that it touched the 'ground', seemingly melting into it, manifesting into the shadows below. Beneath the cloak I could see what appeared to be a white lab coat of sorts, and his hands were folded elegantly in front of his chest as if he were holding a fragile, delicate lily flower.
'Is... is he a doctor of some kind?' I wondered to myself, trembling slightly as he suddenly disappeared. I looked from left to right, and then behind, but as I looked forward once more... "A-ah!" A small/startled yelp escaped my lips as he was suddenly right in front of me, towering above me, gazing down at me. He was too far away for me to tell before, but now I could see that he was a skeleton, too, like Sans and Papyrus.
My eyes frantically darted about, taking in this strangers features while searching for a sign. Friend or foe? Dream or reality? I winced slightly as I saw he had a long crack above his left eye that traveled the length of his skull, and another that was almost identical, traveling the length from his right eye down to his jaw. Looking up at him with fear in my eyes, I knew that I was visibly shaking, my knees pressed together with anxiety and worry. Was he here to harm me?
Continuing to gaze down at me, the rather tall skeleton offered me his hand, a tender and kind expression gracing his cracked, skeletal features. His right eye had a small white pinprick pupil that was glowing with sincerity, and though his left eye appeared to be damaged and hollow... somehow, I knew he meant me no ill will. He wasn't to be feared.
With a timid smile, I gently grasped his outstretched, bony hand, taking it mine. Immediately noticing the large hole at the center of his palm, I instinctively traced the outline of it with my index finger, looking back up at him with a curious expression and a tilt of my head. He chuckled soothing at my action, gently squeezing my small hand with his bony fingers.
"Greetings, my dear human. I am so very sorry if my appearance frightened you. I assure you that was not my intent. My most sincere apologies if that was the case... but you see, I simply had to speak with you."

He spoke in an echoey voice that I could only describe as melodic, soothing, yet... melancholy. As if the weight of the world were upon his shoulders, bringing him great suffering, sadness, and grief. Though as he went on, his tone seemed to lighten, grow happier, and by the time he mentioned me? His voice was full of hope. Another interesting trait that I had noticed as he spoke was his hand. The hand that wasn't holding mine was constantly moving, creating images and signs... like sign language! And every sign he formed, appeared in the blackness above us for me to see. It was unlike anything I had ever seen! And I only continued to grow more and more curious.
"Speak with... m-me? B...but why? A-and how do you know me in the first place? ... who are you?" I asked, holding the strangers hand all the tighter, my pleading eyes gazing desperately into his own, longing for information, for answers. With a soft chuckle and a gentle squeeze of my hand, he knelt down to my level, tilting his skull only just slightly as he gazed into my curious (E/C) orbs.
"I know much about you, my dear little Kitten, for I have been watching you very closely ever since you fell down here. Into the Underground." His right eye lit up with a light blue hue, and his left sparked to life with a bright orange glow. "My name... is Doctor W.D Gaster."
