???'S POV

I couldn't believe my eyes. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was him... the skeleton. The reaper. The one whom I had begged to take my SOUL when I was suffering. Why? Why didn't he? Why didn't he kill me? I could feel my eyes well up with tears of confusion and fear as I stared into his own. One red, and one hollow. "W-why...?" I whimpered through my tears as I stared, my voice wavering. "A-aren't you the reaper of SOULS? I don't understand..."

I could see the look of surprise on his face before it faded away into sympathy. "Kid..." He stood up, moving closer to my head until he held my cheek in his skeletal hand. "I think yer a lil' bit confused..."

HORRORSANS POV

Tracing my thumb along her cheek I wiped her tears away. This kid had clearly been through a lot. Hell. I'm pretty sure she doesn't even know where she is. "I'm not th' reaper. Don't be afraid." I gave the softest grin I could manage as I tried to calm her down, my glowing eye bright with sincerity.

"Y-... you're not...?" Her soft, weakened voice replied, her eyes flickering fearfully. "Nah. I'm not that great." I said jokingly with a wink, trying to cheer her up. "I don't think any Grim Reaper would hire a lazy bones like me. Hell. I'd be too bone-tired t'even get to work in the first place." I grinned as I heard her give a little laugh, her tears soon drying. "There's a smile. See? Yer alright." I was glad to see her in a happier state, but there was still a whole lot to be said, and even more to understand.

"Heh... anyway, the name's Sans. Sans the Skeleton. My brother Papyrus is the one sleepin' over there." I gestured behind us with my thumb, and I watched as she followed my finger with her gaze. "So uh... what's yer name, kid?" She looked back to me with a small smile, and she opened her mouth to speak... but nothing came out. Her smile faltered, and she looked down at her lap, a worried expression on her face.

"I... I don't know..." She whispered. I could feel my eye flash in shock. She didn't know her own name?! "W-well uh... that's a real /headache/ ain't it? H-heh..." I rubbed the back of my skull, feeling myself start to sweat. "Well... do ya remember how ya came to be here? In the Underground, I mean?" She looked back up at me, a look of confusion in her eyes. "Underground...?" She tilted her head just slightly. "What's... the Underground?"

"...?!" Damn. This girl doesn't remember a thing! If she doesn't remember how she got down here in the first place, then it's doubtful that she even remembers how she came to be in such a broken state. With a patient sigh, I slowly nodded my head. I'll just have to help her remember. Somehow.

"It's ... it's a bit of a long story, kiddo..."
