HORRORSANS POV
I watched the two with a lazy grin, eyeing Papyrus' glowing orange hand with interest, one eyebrow raised. I was glad that his magic was back, make no mistake on that, but I couldn't help myself from wondering... did he realize he was activating his power? Nah. Probably not. Paps had always been one for doing things on instinct. Most of the time without knowing it.
I began to think back, remembering the day when my skull came to be in this cracked condition, causing a brief look of disdain to grace my features. It was the day I decided to stand up to that tyrant of a queen, and our poor excuse of a monarchy. Queen Undyne.
** FlashBack **
I stared up at the Fish-Like Warrior, taking in her appearance, noting everything that had changed. Those jagged teeth... the blood on her uniform... the dust on her hands... one look into her cold, dark eyes and I knew ... she wasn't the Monster I once knew, and was proud to call... a friend. There was a time where she was the Captain of the Royal Guard, a secret Anime lover, a fierce warrior with fiery Soul, a role model, and so... so much more.
When the disaster struck, when King Asgore vanished along with that kid, Frisk... all of the people turned her. They were scared, and they needed someone to lead them. What better choice than the Royal Guard Captain? Everyone looked up to her, respected and revered her... and in the end? The pressure got to her. That, combined with her newfound hatred for humans, still feeling the effects of being betrayed by Frisk... she snapped.
She declared Genocide on all humans, and set a new rule into place. If any human falls into the Underground, we were to kill it on sight and bring the Soul to her. The reward would be generous, and the punishment? Equally so. Anyone who was found to be aiding a fallen human in any way, shape, or form, would be executed. ...I'll never forget Toriels face... the day I told her this news... she was never the same after that.
Now... that was all in the past, and here I was, staring up at my 'old friend' in a not so friendly occasion. Because of her, so many innocent Monsters have died, and I wasn't going to stand around and watch it happen. I couldn't afford not to care anymore.
"Undyne! Your laws are only making everything worse... we're all staring!" I glared up at her, my right eye glowing with a dangerous blue. "Hear me when I say this. I don't want to have any further deal with you! Leave us alone." I glared into her one eye with as much sincerity as I could muster. No more joking around... this was serious.
Everyone had been turned against each other, and because of that, food had become scarce. Most everyone who baked and sold their edible wears had been killed already, be it for their own flesh or just for sport. As for everyone else? They refused to share. Money had become useless. Food was the new currency.
"Is that so?" She asked with a deranged, snaggletoothed grin that sent shivers down my spine. "...yes." I replied lowly, replacing my hands into my pockets as I exhaled a chilly breath. "I'm leaving." I stated, turning my back on the psychotic 'queen' if you can even call her that. "If I ever catch you near me or my brother EVER again, you WILL regret it..." With that final warning I began my long walk home, worrying about Papyrus's next meal and where I would get it.
As I walked away, I just barely made out her harsh, whispering reply. "I doubt that..." The next thing I knew-...
*WHOOSH ... CRACK*
...I was laying on the cold, snowy ground. She had pierced my skull with one her magic spears, clear through the socket of my right eye. I heard her voice sound loudly behind me. "Everyone should follow... T H E L A W."
In that brief moment, I felt nothing. No pain, no fear... no emotion. I was filled with numbness. ... that wasn't to last.
*TAP-TAP-TAP-TAP*
With this strange and sudden urge, I drummed my fingers against the icy ground. As I regained my bearings and reopened my eye sockets, I felt something inside of me change, and looking down into the snow only confirmed what I was feeling. The icy reflection revealed that my once bright blue right eye... was now red.
I stood back up while gripping my fractured skull, then pulling back my hand to check for blood. There was, but only a little. Funny, right? Skeletons can bleed. My eye darted to the side to look at Undyne, and the look of complete horror on her face? Heh... now that was an unforgettable sight.
"So... that's how it is, then?" I asked lowly, a twisted grin forming on my face. "Heh heh... what's the matter, 'Queen?' You look like you've seen... the undead dead." I watched as she took a step backwards, still just as horrified as before. I was about to laugh at her fear, but in so doing, I realized... I was horrified, too. As my stomach rumbled, reminding me of just how hungry I was, I suddenly felt 'okay' with the law. I frowned with confusion, but another thought brought my grin right back.
"Welp... the law is the law, right? Heh... besides, Papyrus hasn't eaten in three days. As a good big brother, I need to fix that..." I turned my back on her once again, this time, I was sure she wouldn't dare attack. Though I had to be sure she would remember the message well. "I'm not gonna warn you twice, y'know. Stay away from us, or else..." My eyes went hollow and black as I have a low, rumbling chuckle. "...it could be you who ends up on my plate."
** End of Flashback **
After that whole ordeal I went home, and of course Papyrus freaked. The sight of my skull busted open like that? I guess you could say she really /cracked/ me up. Heh heh... but he failed to find anything funny about the matter, not to mention he seemed to notice the change in my demeanor almost immediately. I'll never forget the look on his face... he was crying and begging me to 'come back'. Saying over and over again how sorry he was, and how he wished he had been there. That's when it happened.
As he was hugging me, his hands started to glow brightly, and like magic, the bleeding stopped. Not only that, but I gained back a bit of my sanity, to the point where I wasn't scaring him as much anymore. He was so relieved... but still, the hunger was ever present, and even with his healing, the law was the law. Soon enough, Papyrus came to understand that as well. I'm not proud of what we did, but hunger will drive you mad if given the chance.
If it wasn't for Papyrus' powers that day, who knows where I'd be. "HMMM... LET ME THINK. WHAT TO CALL YOU... WHAT TO CALL YOU..." Watching him with the human warmed my Soul, seeing him showing love and not LOVE. That's when I noticed something. As Papyrus was petting her, she was... purring. What a cute kid. I decided to contribute my idea to the matter.
"Heh heh... I know just the name." I watched as Papyrus and the girl both looked over to me with curiosity. "WHAT IS IT, SANS?" Papyrus asked, still petting the human, but his hand was now back to normal. I chuckled and gave a wide grin, sitting up straight. "Why don't we call you... kitten? Heh heh... you certainly purr like one." I watched as she blushed, and Papyrus gave the biggest smile. "HMMM... KITTEN. NYEH HEH HEH! I LIKE IT!"
The girl nodded shyly, and gave a small giggle."O-okay~! I like it, too." That just made me grin all the wider. "Welp... I guess that's settled." I gently placed my hand on her head, giving it a gentle rub. "Welcome to your new home, Kitten."
