KITTENS POV
"Gaster..." I slowly repeated his name, rolling off of the tip of my tongue almost naturally. I had so many questions, so many things to ask him! I could only hope that if he had the answers, he would give them to me. "W-wait... just now you called me... 'Kitten' ...?" I asked with slight disbelief and shock at this sudden realization, looking up into his eyes which had converted back to their usual state. "That's... th-that's the name Sans and Papyrus gave to me... h-how did you-?"
He interrupted me, placing a bony finger to my lips with a light, amused chuckle. "As I said, I have been watching you most close. I know much about you, and much about the world in to which you have fallen." His smile seemed to faulter at the mention of this horrific world, only to return moments later as he continued to speak.
"The fact that Sans rescued you in the first place was on par with that of a miracle, and on top of it all, having Papyrus agree with Sans' decision, and aid in your care?" A fond expression formed upon his face, gracing his features as though he were remembering some sort of happy memory. Gazing upwards into the dark abyss, staring at seemingly nothing, he continued on with his train of thought.
"They developed emotions for you. Growing a sort of an..." He waved his hand in the air as if searching for the correct word. "...attachment. They wanted to protect you, to keep you safe from harm, even at the risk of their own lives." He gave a heavy sigh. "After all that has happened here in the Underground these past many years, it came as an enormous shock to me." He slowly shook his head, eyes closing with a sorrowful exhale. "... every tragedy... so many innocent lives shattered... families destroyed, and dust scattered... our humanity ... lost..."
With every terrible event that he listed, the light in his right eye grew dimmer and dimmer, and I could feel my SOUL grow heavy with sorrow. "I... I had no idea..." I whispered shakily, about to apologize to him for my ignorance on the matter. But then, I felt a bony hand beneath my chin. Gaster moved my head slightly upwards until our eyes met. "...and then you came." He said with a soft smile, his eye glowing brightly. "You, my dear, you have brought LOVE back to the hearts of Sans and Papyrus, both, and at the same time, taken LOVE."
"I... I took... and gave love...?" I asked, looking into his glowing and hollow eye. I felt so confused, and I was positive that he could see it written all over my face. He chuckled softly, lifting me up into his arms, cradling me as if I were a young child. It was rather... comforting. "LOVE is an acronym, my dear. It stands for Level Of Violence. Something they were once consumed by, and still partially are." He explained, gently rocking me back and forth. I tilted my head slightly to the right. 'They're... still slightly dangerous...?' I wondered silently to myself.
Gaster continued. "When Sans found you outside of the Ruins Gates, you were gravely injured, and in terrible pain. He had his weapon at the ready, nothing but fresh meat and bloodshed on his mind." He gently brushed a strand of my hair to the side as I continued to listen intently to his words, blushing slightly at this contact, causing him to smile. "But that isn't what happened, now is it? He could hear your SOUL calling out to him, and he could feel how much you needed his help. How much you needed... him."
"If that wasn't enough to convince him, those words that you spoke before you collapsed? Begging for him to take your life away? That shook him to his very core, and suddenly, the thought of fresh meat made him feel ill. There was no further decision to make after that. What he needed to do was clear... keep you safe from harm. And once Papyrus saw you, and heard the entire story from his brother? He felt the very same way. He wanted nothing more than to make you well again, to make you... happy."
I couldn't help but smile at Gasters words, tearing up slightly from the pure rush of raw emotion. 'Did they really care that much... for me?' I wondered, knowing deep down that Gasters words were true. "Listen to me closely, Kit..." He focused his eye sockets on mine once more, quickly snapping me from my thoughts, and back to attention. "You are this worlds last hope, dear one, and though it may take more than just a day, or even a year... they will return to how they once were. How they used to be. You can SAVE them. You can SAVE both Sans and Papyrus. You can SAVE ... me."
My eyes widened as he spoke, and I slowly began to shake my head with confusion at his final words. "S-save you? But... but you're fine! Aren't you?... I-I..-" I didn't have the chance to finish my thoughts, for suddenly, the world around us began to glitch and become distorted. I was waking up. Gaster gave a patient sigh, smiling down at me with a comforting hug, holding me close to his body. "I'm afraid our time is drawing to a close for now, but do not fear. I will meet you the very next time you close your eyes... in your dreams."
He leaned down, pressing his 'lips' to my forehead in a tender kiss, my face turning a light pink as he did so. "W-wait...!" I shook my head. "I don't want to leave yet!" Gaster cooed softly into my ear, his voice seemingly growing farther, and farther away. "I will see you again... my dear little Kitten..."
