To say that Calli could dance was an understatement. She felt perfect in his arms, like she was created to be there always. Vincenzo loved the heat that her body generated as it transferred through hers into his.
He was almost pissed that the song was over, but they made their way slowly back to the table, where he again pulled out her chair, allowing her to sit down and then move it closer to the table.
"Thank you" she said graciously, as she watched his expression turn into a smile. "You carry a lot of worry and concern around on you, don't you?" she asked gently as she sipped her bubbly.
Smirking at her, he answered truthfully. "I do and not many people pick up on it, as you have. They just think I'm being an asshole, which pretty much most of the time I am. I have a lot of people's livelihoods that depend on me and I always have to be at the top of my game, for their sake" he added.
"How long have you been in the business?" she asked, and this genuinely surprised him. Did she know already? Was he that obvious and transparent? All the better, he thought because at least he didn't have to worry about explaining Omerta' to her along with other things.
He watched her lean closer, her hand falling on top of his, her thumbs caressing his knuckles. "I know a made man when I see one, Vincenzo. I'm sure, after talking to my nona, that you know who my father is, so I've grown up around this all of my life. I can spot one a mile away."
She was trying to add levity to the conversation but Siranni was now wondering, knowing that she knew who he was, would it make it that much simpler to explain the contract, her father's part and her nona's to her, or would it just send her right over the edge?
He would try and give her the benefit, since he reckoned she was incredibly intelligent as she was beautiful. He had no delusions about the conversation they would soon be having. She would take it hard no matter the delivery.
"Brains and beauty. It would seem that I have met my match" he smirked as she threw her head back and laughed. He loved that sound. It was real, not fake, not made up. Just plain real. Like she was.
Standing up, with his glass in his hand, he held out his other hand for her to take and then explained "Come. I want to show you something."
He watched her take his hand and pick up her glass with the other. The sparks that passed between them the moment they touched was undeniable.
He felt it and he knew she did too, based on the look she just gave him but she didn't pull away but instead squeezed his hand a bit, telling him that she could feel it too.
He nodded at Luca as they headed for an elevator marked 'PRIVATE' and stepping into it, she watched him press a button that said 'ROOF'.
As soon as they stepped out, she looked at him, her mouth slightly ajar at the sight that greeted them. "Oh Vincenzo" she breathed happily.
He couldn't help but smile a bit as her excitement rubbed off onto him. He watched her kick off her shoes and all but run to the edge of the railing, look down and then out into the city that he loved so much.
"Wow" he heard her say as she continued to look at Vegas under the night sky and from the roof of his hotel. "You like, princepessa?" he asked of her. Nodding, she kept on smiling, her eyes taking in everything that she could see this time of night.
"It's really magnificent" she said. "I could just stay up here and be happy for the rest of my life." He wanted that very thing for her, happiness for the rest of her life. But could he be the one to give that to her?
"Abrielle was right when she said it didn't take much to make you happy" he mused. He was now leaning on the railing with his forearms, fingers clasped as he looked over at Calli.
"I don't need much, Mr. Siranni. I'm quite simple really. I treat people the way I want to be treated. I don't take my station in life for granted because I know that I am only a wing and a prayer from being without a home or food to eat.
I look at each day as though it were a gift and a scavenger hunt. It's always exciting to discover what's waiting for you out there" she said as she looked dreamily at the mountains images as they disappeared into the night sky.
"I've never met anyone like you before" he said. She scoffed and answered "Not many have. They, everyone that has ever said they were my friend or wanted to be, think because I am Antoine Mancini's kid, that they can hitch the wagon to my star and get a leg up.
Let me just say that they are not pleasantly surprised when they find out that I will not help them and I do not want anything to do with them after that. I want someone to be my friend because they find me interesting or because I have something better to add to their life. I don't know, it's just the way I feel." she shrugged.
Vincenzo pulled himself up to his full height, then turned to her and said "I would like to be your friend." He watched the surprised look on her face disappear as something all together different took it's place.
"I think I would like for you to be my friend as well" her voice was a little breathy. "May I kiss you?" Vincenzo asked. She bit her bottom lip, something that completely turned him on, and then she slowly nodded.
He watched her close her eyes as he got closer and then, just to see how she would react, he placed a gentle, warm kiss on her cheek and slowly withdrew. He smirked inwardly as he couldn't help but notice the disappointment on her face.
But what surprised him even more, was when she closed the distance between them, placed her palms on his chest and said "After that kiss, I don't think I want to be friends anymore." She was toying with him and he knew it.
Okay baby, he thought. Let's see how you deal with this. "Well, we can't have you going away feeling like you were cheated, now can we?" He was so flirting back with her but he didn't care. He had to know how far she was willing for this to go between them.
He placed both hands on either side of her face, pulling her closer into him, and then he just let all of the fire and passion that had collected come out through that single kiss.
Vincenzo had no control over his body as the kiss deepened and started to become more than it should at this point anyway.
He knew he would have to put a stop to it because he would not have their first time being on the roof top of the Bellagio. No, his first time with her, was going to be in his bed on his terms.
"Your lips are ridiculous" she whispered, as their eyes continued to stay locked on one another. "As are yours, fiorella" he responded. "Come. I would like to take you to my suite for a private drink. I think we have much to discuss."
She nodded and started to turn around to head to the door that led back into the building form the roof but was stopped by Vin.
"You're a very beautiful woman, cara" he told her. She blushed while telling him thank you, for that and the entire evening.
"You know, it's been a very long time since I enjoyed going out like this. Thank you again for a wonderful evening, Vincenzo. I mean it. The food, your company and this" she said waving to the scenery that surrounded them. "It's just been the best."
"It was all my pleasure to give you this night, Calli. I believed you deserve it and so much more" was his answer.
With his hand on the small of her back, he could feel the warmth of her bare skin despite that it had turned cooler whilst they were up there. She stopped to gather her discarded shoes before they reached the roof top door.
Luca met them as they returned to the elevator, another one marked private, and this time he punched in the tenth floor.
The silence between them was not awkward at all, as each person was lost in their own thoughts and only when they reached the floor where Vincenzo lived, did he tell Luca that he would call him if he needed anything.
Nodding, the man smiled at them both and watched as they disappeared inside Siranni's apartment.
"Good luck, Vinny" he smirked. "You're gonna need it."
