(Calli's first night travel outfit)

I laid back on my bed, staring over at Bri sleeping and wished to God I could buy one night's sleep, but nope, not tonight or any other night for that matter.

I rubbed my belly and sighed thinking about how last night I made mark number sixty on the bathroom wall.  Two months we'd been here, although I had no idea where here was but I had to start doing something else to get us out of here.

The doctor that Meena had set up to take care of me was really nice and kind and I couldn't figure out why in the world someone like him would be mixed up with her anyway.

I was about to go into another deep line of thinking when I heard Dr. Melina's voice outside the door, arguing heavily with a very pissed of Meena.

"Ms. Agassi!" The doctor huffed.  "The blood I took yesterday, I'm concerned about the results and I just need to check something.  Five minutes and I'll be out of here."

"Jesus!" Meena yelled, her voice sounding irritated.  "Fine hurry the hell up!" She sneered, leaving the man to take a deep sigh.

He opened the door, looked both ways and then stepped inside.  "I'm sorry it's taken so long" he whispered.  "But you and your sister-in-law need to be ready tonight, after the sun goes down."

What's this?  Were we getting moved again?  Please God no!  "There will only be two men here tonight because some kind of special meeting is going on.  I have prepared a series of checkpoints for the both of you to check in at.

I will take you to the first one, and then you will follow the directions you are given at each place.  The only catch is, you can only travel at night and it will take six days to get you through" he finished.

"Why?" I asked.  He smiled and said "Because my dear, you are in Spain which is eighteen hours from Italy.  You will travel for three hours each day and on that last day, your last rendezvous point, in Italy will give you a phone to call your husband.

I am getting you out through an underground organization that helps smuggle young women that have been taken into human trafficking but when I met with my contact and told them the story, they were more than willing to help.  Be ready tonight" he said but before he could leave, I hugged him.  "Thank you" I whispered.  He nodded and left.

Oh my God!  We were six days from freedom and home!  I walked quietly to Bri's bed, bent down and whispered for her to wake up.  When she finally did, I looked at her smiling and said "Bri, we're going home tonight."

As I explained what Dr. Melina told me, her eyes brimmed with tears of joy, as did mine.  I rubbed my belly and said "Baby, we're going home!"  Bri and I couldn't believe it and we prayed the doctor's plan worked.

We went about our day like always, careful to not deviate or draw unwanted attention for acting strange.  We went and took our showers because we had no idea when we would get our next one.

One of the times Meena had brought clothes for us, they were in a backpack and we'd held on to it, so we packed necessary toiletries, panties rolled up to take up less room and the least bulky clothes we had, figuring we could wear shorts at least two days but change our shirts.

When the backpack was ready, I hid it under the bathroom sink, feeling good that we would have that to bring with us, plus one of the meals we'd gotten had packaged crackers and granola bars for a snack, so I had put those in the pack.

I'd hoped that we would be able to get bottled water from our checkpoints, that way they wouldn't be put out too much with having to help us.

God I wanted to weep for joy at the thought of being able to hold Vincent again, sleep with him in our bed and lay beneath him as he took me to new heights with his delectable body.

We had made it through two meals already and had managed to keep from going stir crazy talking about names for baby boys. "Well I already know I want to use Vincent's middle name Alessandro, so I was thinking for the first name Luciano." I smiled broadly at how Italian it sounded.

Bri smiled and repeated the baby's full name. "Luciano Alessandro Siranni. God it sounds so Italian!" She laughed and so did I, again because we were thinking the same thing.

Pretty soon it was dinner time and thank all that is holy they brought us hamburgers, French fries and shakes. It would be good food to get us through the night until we reached our first checkpoint.

Scarfing down our food, Bri and I all but willed the sun to go down faster but when it finally disappeared and day became night, I ran to the bathroom, grabbed the bag and put it on the other side of the door, so it couldn't be seen.

About ten or fifteen minutes later, we heard a slight thudding sound and Bri and I clutched each other's hands until the door swung open and Dr. Melina appeared.

"Come on girls!  There's a truck waiting for you.  You have to come now!" He said excitedly as I grabbed our bag on the way out.

Sure enough and good to his word, the first truck drove us three hours to a little town, didn't care about the name, and we were hidden in a little cafe.  I was told its busy enough but not too busy.

We got hot baths, a decent place to lay our heads and really good food and more importantly, our spirits were high!  Thanks to Dr. Melina we were on our way home.

This would be our way of life for the next six days but because Bri and I were on such a high, it went quickly and before we knew it, we were only two days from home!

We had been told that we had crossed into Italy but we were still two days from Sicily.  One more checkpoint after this and we'd meet our last contact and be given a phone.

I couldn't wait to hear Vincent's voice!  Bri and I found that our excitement was keeping us from sleeping, like little kids waiting for Santa Claus to make an appearance in our front room.

"We made it!" Bri squealed.  And we had.  It was our last day and the sun had began to set as we made our way to the last checkpoint.

We were met by an older woman, kind in heart and spirit, willing to help us and make sure we got home.  Once we made it to the basement of the restaurant, she gave us some food and then laid a cell phone in my hand.

"Grazie!" I cried as I dialed Vincent's number.
