Vincent stared down at the screen on his phone as an unknown number blinked, lighting up the screen. These days he answered every single call, no matter what.
"Siranni" his gravely voice answered and a voice answered back, one that he'd prayed so very hard, that if given favor, he would hear again and it would seem this was his day for favor.
"Vincent?" Calli's voice rang through, loud, clear and sweet. "Oh my God, Calli! Where are you?" Calli explained briefly, telling him where to go, what to say and who to ask for. "Bri and I are fine but please come get us, we're ready to come home" she cried.
"The baby?" He whispered. "Definitely making his presence known" she chuckled as Vincent breathed a sigh of untold relief. "We'll be there in fifteen, oh and Calli?" He said. "Ti amo baby." She cried harder and repeated the sentiment.
He started yelling and people came from all over into the study, probably thinking he'd finally lost his mind, because he was smiling, like an idiot.
"Calli and Bri are alive! Luca, Niccola and Franco, with me, everyone else, stay here. I'll be in touch" Vincent kissed his mom and Anastasia and then was gone.
Once in the SUV, he gave Franco the address to where they were going and it was only ten minutes away, a little out-of-the-way Italian pizza place that had a hidden basement and that's where the girls were being kept safe.
Vincent kept clamping down on his jaw and grinding his teeth at the thought of seeing his wife, who was now sixty days into her pregnancy. He shook his head at the thought of what she was going to look like but right now, more than that he wanted to hold her and kiss her.
She had instructed him to park in the back, in the spot that said Manager. Once he'd done this, he was to knock on the back door and say "Pick up." This would get him in and then he was supposed to ask for Mara.
Once he'd made his way inside, he waited for this Mara. He was pleasantly surprised when an older looking Italian lady met him with a genuine smile and bid him to follow her.
Making their way down a long corridor, they headed down some basement steps and the first thing he heard was Calli and Bri laughing. He wanted to shout to the rooftops but managed to hold it in somehow.
"Your wife and sister are very brave women" Mara commented. "Take your time, but not too long" she said smiling and he understood her meaning and before she left, Vincent said "Thank you." She nodded and left him standing there.
"Are you ready to go home?" He asked, looking at the two women, smiling. "Vinny!" Bri screamed, running to her brother, hugging him for dear life. He held her tightly and then kissed her head.
"You okay, little sis?" He asked, holding her at arms length, looking at every inch of her. "Vinny, I'm fine. Really. Calli took care of me and kept me safe." By the smile on her face, he knew she was telling the truth.
"Go to her, brother. She's missed you something awful." Bri kissed her brother as he stepped around her and headed to his wife, who stood smiling, eyes glistening with tears of happiness.
She smashed her body into his, her arms gripping his waist as she cried into his chest, her body relaxing immediately at their touch. Vincent didn't care who was around as he let his tears flow in relief.
Time was of no consequence as far as he was concerned and he would hold her for however she needed to be held. She stood back a little from him while reaching for his hands and placing them on her belly.
