The halls of McKinley were quiet and sad. It had been about a week or so since the news of Finn's death had broke and his funeral. Everything was so different.
Tina wore black everyday. Blaine would tear up when we were singing in Glee. Marley hadn't been talking since it happened. The choir room was always quiet during Glee practices except for Mr. Schue talking about Regionals.
One day during study hall, I walked up to Blaine.
"Hey." I said.
"Hey."
"Are you going to Glee?"
"Yeah."
You could hear the pain in his voice. Finn and Blaine were good friends. We all missed him.
"Listen, Blaine, I know you miss Finn and all, but he wouldn't want you to be sad. He'd want us to get up and win at Regionals and at Nationals." I said. Blaine's eyes began to water. I reached forward and took his hand.
"I really miss him." he said. "When I first joined the New Directions, he didn't like me much, but we soon became friends."
Tears began to fall down his face. I felt tears in my eyes as well. It broke my heart to see him sad. I began singing a song that I loved.
Marcia: "You're not alone
Together we'll stand
I'll be by your side
You know I'll take your hand"
Blaine wiped the tears from his eyes and began to sing as well.
Blaine: "And when it gets cold
And it feels like the end
There's no place to go
You know I won't give in"
Both: "No I won't give in
Keep holding on"
Marcia: "Cause you know we'll make it through"
Both: "We'll make it through
Just stay strong"
Marcia: "Cause you know I'm here for you"
Both: "I'm here for you"
The bell for lunch rang. Blaine and I collected our books and walked down the hall to the choir room, our arms linked.
Blaine: "So far away
I wish you were here
Before its too late
This could all disappear"
Both: "Before the door close
And it comes to an end
With you by my side
I will fight and defend"
We entered the choir room where all the sad souls sat in silence.
Both: "Hear me when I say
When I say I believe
Nothing's gonna change
Nothing's gonna change destiny
Whatever's meant to be will work out perfectly
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah"
Everyone looked up at us as we sang. They had tears in there eyes as they all began to sing with us.
All: "Keep holding on"
Marcia: "Cause you know we'll make it through"
Blaine and Marcia: "We'll make it through"
All: "Just stay strong"
Marcia: "Cause you know I'm here for you"
Blaine and Marcia: "I'm here for you
There's nothing you can say"
All: "Nothing you can say"
Blaine and Marcia: "Nothing you can do"
All: "Nothing you can do"
Blaine and Marcia: "There's no other way"
All: "When it comes to the truth so
Keep holding on
Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through"
Marcia: "Keep holding on"
There's nothing you can say"
All: "Nothing you can say"
Blaine and Marcia: "Nothing you can do"
All: "Nothing you can do"
Blaine and Marcia: "There's no other way"
All: "When it comes to the truth so
Keep"
Blaine and Marcia: "Keep holding on
Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through"
Everyone was in tears. Mr. Schue stood up and clapped.
"That was awesome guys, but it has a bit of a meaning to us. Specifically Artie, Brittany and Tina." he said.
"It does?" I asked.
"When Quinn was pregnant, we sang it to her." Tina said. "Mainly Rachel and...Finn."
She wiped tears from her face. I felt bad. I wish I knew that before I started singing it. I was trying to make things better. Instead, I probably made it worst.
"You know what, Marcia? You and Blaine have a point." Mr. Schue said. "Next week is Valentine's Day and then a week after that is Regionals. We need to start preparing. So, starting next week, we will be doing a Valentine's Day assignment."
Mr. Shue walked over to the board and drew a big heart on it.
"The assignment for this year is same as every year." he explained. "Pick a song to sing to the person you love. You can sing it as a group, duet, solo. It doesn't matter. And, if it has some meaning to you, the better."
Everyone began to murmur as Blaine and I sat down.
"You have any idea what you're going to sing?" Blaine asked me.
"I do, actually." I said and looked at Ryder over my shoulder.
