The killings had stopped. Authorities figured that it was just a freak thing and that the killer had gotten bored and moved on. Mckenzie knew that that wasn't true. She knew that they would be back.

"Have you ever thought about destiny?" Michael asked, looking over at Mckenzie. They were sitting in the dome where they had shared their first kiss. Michael had his arm draped around her shoulders loosely and Mckenzie had her head rested on his shoulder.

"Not really. Seems phony to me," Mckenzie replied. Michael pursed his lips.

"I don't think so. I think that everything happens for a reason, but sometimes I wonder if everything has already been planned out for us, like humanity is a book and we got the parts as ourselves for the play," he said. Mckenzie moved away from Michael and looked up at him, confused.

"Why would you think that?"

"It's just a hunch." Michael shrugged. "I hope our destiny has a happy ending."

"But what if it doesn't?" Mckenzie asked. Michael sighed.

"Let's hope that that isn't true."

"Well we could always just change it," Mckenzie said. Michael scoffed.

"Change your destiny? I don't think so. That's impossible," Michael said with an eye roll. "I just wish that we could sit up here forever. We wouldn't need to worry about destiny if we could just stay up here forever. Just say the words."

Mckenzie's eyes narrowed. Michael would never say that something's impossible, especially to Mckenzie, and even if they hadn't been talking for a while because when it comes to Mckenzie, anything was possible. Fairies weren't supposed to have other supernatural creatures as their people. Well, it's not that they weren't supposed to, it's just that it never happened. Also, Michael and Mckenzie had had a conversation like this one before and Michael knew what would happen if she wished for them to stay up there forever.

"You're not real," she said. Michael looked confused.

"What are you talking about-"

"You're not real, Michael. As much as I would love to stay up here with you forever, I can't."

"Yes you can, Mckenzie. Just say the words." Michael didn't have Michael's voice anymore. It sounded feminine.

"No. I won't. I write my own destiny, Michael." The setting around Mckenzie turned to smoke and suddenly she was sitting in a booth by the window at a diner in the middle of a city. The city was bustling outside and the diner was bustling inside. Mckenzie had a cup of coffee in her hand which she put down tentatively. She tried to stand up to leave, but she couldn't.

Come on Mckenzie this isn't real. Just wake up. Mckenzie said to herself in her head.

"Just because you aren't awake doesn't mean that it isn't real," a voice said. It sounded like the voice that came from Michael's mouth before everything disappeared. A middle aged woman with short blonde hair and piercing blue eyes sat down across from Mckenzie.

"Who are you?" Mckenzie asked.

"That's not important right now. I tried to communicate with you through someone you trusted, but I have to reveal myself since you saw through my trap, and I do indeed admit that it was a trap," the woman said.

"A trap? A trap for what?" Mckenzie asked.

"A trap to keep you in your own mind. Obviously you're too strong for that. I'm proud," the woman said with a soft smile.
