Jacque, Lauren, and Mckenzie sat at their regular table; Jacque and Lauren on one side and Mckenzie on the other. Lauren glanced over at the table to her left. Ashton, Luke, and a few other wizards were sitting there and talking about who knows what. Ashton and Luke were certainly like they hadn't almost killed each other yesterday. Lauren kicked Jacque under the table. Jacque looked at Lauren and Lauren nodded her head over to the table. Jacque looked then rolled her eyes.

"So where's Maria?" Lauren asked Mckenzie.

"Bathroom. She fought with me until I let her go. I ended up giving in because I didn't want her to pass out from exhaustion." Mckenzie shrugged and picked at her pasta. Vampires didn't really have tastebuds for much, but some foods like pasta they could taste, even if t was only a little.

"She has her morals," Lauren said and Mckenzie nodded. Jacque looked appalled.

"Morals? You think her killing herself like this is okay?"

"Jacque-"

"Don't 'Jacque' me. It's not right. There's really no reason why she can't just be normal for once except for her goddamn pride," Jacque said.

"It's her decision what she wants to do with herself," Mckenzie added.

"It doesn't even bother you a little bit?" Jacque asked.

"Of course it bothers us. She's one of our best friends, but we can't decide what she does with her life," Mckenzie said.

As Michael walked into the lunch room, he locked eyes with Luke.

"What should I do?" Michael whispered under his breath. He knew that Luke would be able to hear him. He watched Luke look over at the table. Michael walked especially slow to save time. Luke looked back at Michael.

"Sit on her side of the table. No one else is there." Michael almost jumped. He didn't hear Luke's voice because Luke hadn't said anything. Michael heard a voice in his head that just happened to sound like Luke.

"Can I, like, think back to you?" Michael asked.

"Only if I open a line of communication. Usually it's only a one way thing."

"Well, do that as I go sit down."

"Bossy much?" Michael rolled his eyes. Mckenzie smiled at him as he walked towards the table. Michael smiled back. Jacque and Lauren turned around and waved and smiled at him. Michael casually walked over and sat next to Mckenzie.

"Hey," Michael said.

"Hi," Mckenzie replied.

"Smooth." Luke said.

"Can you feel me mentally punching you?" Michael replied. It was pretty cool to talk to Luke without actually talking.

"It doesn't work that way, sweetheart." The chatter in the lunch room immediately got quieter. Confused, the three girls and Michael turned to look at who cause the commotion. Luke and Ashton did the same. Maria was walking through the lunch room, making a slow beeline to the table. She kept her eyes up and clutched her water bottle so tight her knuckles turned white.

"Don't walk too fast. You might pass out," some boy said as she passed. Maria's jaw clenched, but she didn't acknowledge him. Most people whispered, some glared in disgust, and some even laughed. Maria accidentally caught Ashton's eye, and that jerk was smirking at her. And Luke was doing the same. Great. They had teamed up on her.

Once Maria finished her walk of shame to the lunch room, the silence was gone and everything was back to normal. Some other pure blood vampires still did look down at her like she was dirt beneath their shoes. Maria was a pure blood too, but she didn't understand what the huge deal was? So she passed out. It's not that much of an issue.
