Jacque was just walking to dinner when she was pinned against the wall. Out of instinct, she turned invisible on the spot.

"You may be invisible, but I'm still holding on to you," Luke said. Jacque turned back to normal and kept her eyes cast anywhere but Luke, heeding Michael's warning.

"Do you need something?" Jacque asked.

"We just want to ask you a few questions," Ashton said, walking up slightly behind Luke. Jacque decided eye contact with Ashton would be better than Luke, so the two locked eyes.

"It bothers you that Maria's so weak just because of her stubbornness, does it not?" Luke asked.

"Can you let go of me?"

"I will only when you answer the question honestly and if you promise to not run off," Luke replied. Jacque's jaw clenched.

"Fine."

"Great. I'll ask again. It bothers you that Maria's so weak just because of her stubbornness, does it not?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Jacque replied with an innocent smile. It did bother her, a lot actually, but she didn't want to give Luke and Ashton the satisfaction.

"You're lying," Luke growled. Jacque frowned.

"How do you know?"

"Did you guys really have to pin her against the wall?" Now Jacque really wanted to be invisible. Calum walked over and stood on Luke's other side. Ashton shrugged.

"We needed her attention."

"You could have just asked."

"Yeah, it does bother me," Jacque said. The three boys' attention was now on her again.

"It brother's Calum too. Your other friends think that it's her decision to damn herself and that she can do what she wants, but she's both of your friends and you believe if you can do something to help then you should be able to," Luke said. Jacque nodded sheepishly. Ashton smirked. Luke took his hands off of Jacque's wrists. She didn't run. She was intrigued.

"Well, we have a plan. Me, Luke, and Calum."

---------------------

Maria skipped dinner that night. She told Mckenzie to go and that she'd meet up with her. She never ended up going to meet Mckenzie. Maria figured that she'd just pretend that she took a nap and fake sleeping by the time Mckenzie came back. Maria couldn't stop crying. Crying because she would be leaving her friends but also crying because everything in her life was horrible. She felt as though she had put this horrible burden on all of her friends. She figured that it would just be better to end it. Her friends would get over it. They had to.

She then wrote all of that down in a note to Mckenzie and put it under her own pillow. The plan was to leave close to morning and get as far away as possible from the school so that by the time Mckenzie found the note, it would already be too late.

Maria imagined lying in a field of flowers and watching her first real sunrise outside in the light before she combusted. She'd rather die in the light then by a wooden stake.

Maria got under the covers of her bed, her hand covering the note that was placed under her pillow. She closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.

An hour later, Mckenzie came in.

"Maria?" she asked. She must have noticed that she was sleeping because Mckenzie didn't say anything after that. Maria had to bite her lip to keep from sobbing.

Hours passed before Mckenzie's bed side lamp turned off. Even more hours passed before Maria thought that it was safe for her to prepare her departure.
