Everything lately has been like something out of a movie, things have been going so well. We introduced David to Keisha and Xander and they seem to like our new friend pretty well.
Cassidy and I have started back with our respective sports. She's playing volleyball while I cheer with Nicky and David joined the football team with Xander. My relationship with Cassidy gets better and better each day.
I just can't believe how awesome everything is. I never realized I was missing something until I came out and got with Cass. It's like everything is sharper, more in focus, better even. I just feel whole, like I was only living half my life.
I'm so lost in my thoughts that I almost missed the piece that fell out of my locker. I look around the empty hallway and figure Cass must've slipped it in there before she went to practice. I didn't have cheer practice today but I'm still waiting for Cass to get done since we always ride together.
I grab the note and read it
I Love You Maya
I flip the back over and there's nothing there.
Aw I guess Cass must of left this here before she went to practice.
I grab my stuff and start to make my way to the gym. This is the the first time she's told me she loves me since we got together.
Am I ready to tell her I love her back? I mean it's been only been a month and a half. But it's also been the best month of my life.
I walk into the gym and sit down against the wall watching the volleyball team practice. During a water break I wave at Cassidy when she notices me and she jogs over.
"Hey babe." She smiles. "Hey I got your note and I think we should talk about it." I look up to see a confused look on her face. "What note?"
I stand up and pull the note from my pocket. "This one." I hand it to her and she shakes her head. "I didn't leave you a note. What does it say?"
"It says-" I'm interrupted by the coachs whistle. "Carter!" Cassidy turns and nods to the coach. "I gotta go but we're almost done, we can talk about it then." She turns around and runs back to the team.
Who the hell could've left me a note telling me that they love me and why?
Cassidy and the team do some laps around the gym before their coach ends practice. A few minutes later she comes out of the locker room with her stuff and we make our way out to my car.
"Ok now what did the note say?" I hand it to her and pull out of the parking lot. "And you don't know who it could've wrote it?" "Nope"
"But you thought I wrote it" I nod and we sit in silence for a while. "Do you?" Cassidy whispered so low I almost didn't hear it. "Do I what?"
"You know..." she holds the note up. "Oh um that's a really big statement to put out there now that we're dating." I steal a glance at her and see that she looks to be deep in thought. "I just don't want you to feel pressured into saying it...because of the note." I say quickly.
"Yeah no, I know what you mean. I don't want you to feel pressured into it either...because you thought I wrote the note...but I didn't." Cassidy explains awkwardly. "I wouldn't be opposed saying it though. As long as we're both ready."
"I agree." I nod as I pull into Cassidy's driveway.
This is so painfully awkward. What the hell do I have to lose.
"Uh I'll come over later for homework after I shower ok?" She opens the door to get out. "Cassidy wait!" I grab her arm and she turns around.
"I uh just wanted to say that I uh..."
You can do this Maya, go for it.
"I love you." She just looks back at me.
It was too soon I knew it. I should've waited a while longer. I should have-
"I love you too Maya." I look up to see the biggest smile I've ever seen on her face. I sigh in relief and smile back as I feel a blush creep it's way on to my face. Cassidy reaches up and brushes my hair back.
"You're cute when you blush." She smiles causing me to blush harder. "No I'm not." I grin and lean into her hand on my cheek. "Don't fight me on this one, you'll lose. Just accept that you're cute." She gives me a quick kiss on the nose before jumping out the door. "I'll see you in a bit ok." I nod and she closes the door. I wait till she's at her front door to start backing up.
"Hey!" She calls out before she goes inside and I stick my head out the window. "I love you." She says with the goofiest looking smile ever plastered on her face. "I love you too." I call back and she blows me a kiss before going inside.
