Chapter 15

1 Month Later

    It has been a month, since that day with Don. He hasn’t laid a hand on me since. I think he would be too scared to.  Not much has heppend latly. My life since coming back has been consistant of waking up, sitting in the house, Don comes home from wearever he goes, and then we go to bed. But something is happening to me. I can feel it inside of me. And I’m worried about that.

    I havn’t talked to nor seen Tom. I tried to call him once but he never picked up his phone. But today I was going to help Claudia pick out her wedding dress. While Adrian stays home.  Even though he wanted to go, I told him that if he even tried I would rip him to pieces.

    Us vampires have our own “David’s Bridal” but ours is called, “Morbid Bridal” I had to get used to wearing my crown when out in public. I was so used to not wearing it when staying at the south but now it has become something not thinkable. Don wanted me to wear it so I will.

    We walked into the store and was greeted by our good friend Amy. She was the owner and one of my many friends.

    “Lori, how are you? I haven’t seen you here in a while.” she said coming over to hug me.

    “Oh nothing much has been going on, just looking for a wedding dress for my niece Claudia, she getting married soon.”

    “Next week.” she said, god a girl getting married is one of the things I didn’t like to be around. They were always too overly excited. But I know how they feel.

    “Wow, congratulations. Your so young.”

    “I’m 17.” Claudia was insulted. 

    “Oh well ages just come and go now.” said Amy.

    Over the next 5 hours Claudia tried on about 127 dresses. Then I saw something blue in the corner of my eye. I got up, no one seemed to notice, and grabbed the dress. It was all black with tiger strips the color blue. It was short and strapless. This was good. Very good.

    “Hey Claudia! What about this one?” I said holding it up for her to see.

    “Oh my god, that is perfect that is the one!!! oh I’m so I’m so happy that you came with me Lori.” she took the dress form me and gave me a hug, then she disappeared behind the curtain so that she could change into it. When she came out she had the most biggest smile on her face. And I knew then that this dress was the one. 

    “I love it, we’ll take this one, please.” said Claudia, she was jumping up and down and looked like she wouldn’t stop anytime soon.

    “Okay thank you so much Amy, I hope you can come to the wedding?” I asked.

    “I’ll see what I can do.” she told us.

    “How can you stand her?” Claudia asked.

    “I can’t she’s too happy all the time. You just have to work on being able to hide your feelings, it gets easier as time goes on.”

    “God I hope so.” Claudia was born into this world by her parents obviously. But the thing with vampire born children, they get to choose when they stop aging. Claudia could choose to stop at the age of 40, 20, maybe even right this second. They choose how tall they are, how short they are, what color their hair is. But the thing is that once they have done it they can’t take it back. So it is permanent after.

    The only thing now that Claudia needs is her princess crown, and since I was her aunt it was my job. She wants something with a lot of diamonds, something that the queen of England would wear. And I had the perfect one.

    Claudia and I spent the day together and she didn’t want to go back home, afraid that she would spill everything to Adrian. But I knew that everything was going to go fine.

    “Oh and I’m going to my room the second you drop me off. I don’t want nobody to see me I want to be alone with Adrian. If I don’t spill everything to him.” she was smiling from ear to ear. I couldn’t help but to smile also.

    “Hey, Aunty Lori?”

    “Yah?”

    “Did you love Tom?”

    “I don’t know yet.. Everything happened so fast and it ended so fast. I couldn’t really think about it.”

    “You know he loves you right? He’s all depressed latly, and Bill is always trying to stop him from going to your house to take you away. Why is Bill stopping him?”

    “Because I am married to someone else and if anyone finds out that I cheated on my husband we both would be killed. Death by sunlight.” Just the thought of it made my skin crawl.

    “Why, what if you don’t love Don, and you loved Uncle Tom, why would they kill you both because you might love each other?” Claudia was too young to understand, she just wouldn’t get it. But I was afraid that one day maybe she would.

I used to think that life was about standing your ground no matter how strong the current is. But going with the flow isn’t so foolish after all, just as long as it takes you forward.
