Chapter 20

    “The American’s are here! We’re being attacked!” Tom and I jumped out of the bed so fast you would have thought that we were on fire.  Tom and I both looked up and noticed that the smoke was covering our room. It was only a mater of time that the room would be up in flames.

    I ran outside and everyone was everywhere. Running in circles, screaming. From down the hall I could hear my sister.

    “Candy! Get out now, take the tunnel, the Americans don’t know about the tunnel!”

    “Everybody, shut the hell up!” a voice came so loud that everyone just stopped dead. It was Victor, he stood like nothing was wrong.  “Now everyone get to the tunnel, it is still night out but not for long, as long as we are more underground we will be fine. What the hell are you all standing there for, GET MOVING!” his voice held authority, and demand. He was our king, we had to do as he said, it was physically impossible to not.

    Everyone moved at once. Pushing and shoving, yelling. Not only were there adult vampires, but children as well, also new born and toddlers.

    “Come on! Lori we have to go.” Tom yelled at me.

    “I can’t Tom, I need to get Andy, and I have to see if everyone is out of there rooms.”

    “No Lori you are not leaving my side and you are not going around the house, especially that there is fire going on.” Tom had a desperate look on his face.    

    “Yes, Lori you may, but I warn you, you won’t like what you see as you move through the house.” Victor came up from behind me. Putting a hand on my shoulder he said, “You were always destined to be a Queen, and your instincts are coming out on you, but please be careful your element is showing and we still don’t know what Spirit does yet, but I’m afraid that we will find out tonight.”

    He released my arm and I ran, it would take a while till I found Andy. He was on the top floor and that was were the fire was, the American’s were going to burn us from the top down. Tom was beside me the whole time, never leaving my side.

    I felt like I was in the movie Titanic, were Rose is pushing past everyone when the ship was sinking. There were 37 floors in Victors castle, and right now we were on the 18th. Running up the stairs was a challenge, people were swarming and coming out of all the rooms in their day cloths and cloths that they have been wearing since 5 hours ago.

    “Lori, do you think that we will get there in time?” asked Tom.

    “I don’t know, but damn I hope so.” As Tom and I turned the corner to a new set of stairs I bumped into a body.

    “Bill! Why aren’t you with my sister?!” I didn’t wait for him to answer I kept moving, Tom and Bill followed me.

    “I was trying to find you guys, we need to get everyone out of here.” he said.

    It was then that I heard it. It was a bang, then a scream. All three of us turned to see an American vampire with a gun in his hand. And the European vampire was on the ground screaming and squirming around in pain, but then his skin began to fall right off the body and a blue-ish light was peeking through it, it was the gun that Sonja said the Americans made. Light trapped into a silver casing, and once it was in our body it would open up, leaving us in the mercy of it all.

    I ran to the vampire and jumped on his back, he seemed surprised that someone was going against him, but once I rapped my hands around his head and twisted, I heard the sickening crack and his body went limp, but I wasn’t finished I pulled until the whole thing came off, his body then falling to the ground. When I jumped down the three of us started running again.
