Chapter 8

2 Months Later

I’m screwed. I am in so much trouble. Two months have gone by, and what I did is going to ruin everything. Tom and I were laughing and having fun, when all of a sudden out of nowhere Tom kisses me. I got so lost in that kiss that I didn’t realize that Jen walked in. She screamed so loud that my ears hurt.

Jen was Tom’s human consort, and she was in love with Tom. She was convinced in her mind that Tom would one day create her into a vampire.  Over the last two months that I have been here she has been nothing but a biotch to me. All she does is complain that she and Tom never get enough time together, and that he should feed more often.

When Jen stopped screaming she came over to us, and said in a very menacing voice.

“You will pay for steeling him from me, I might just tell the king what you two have done. I won’t if you do something for me.” she said in a sinister voice.

“I want you, to give up on him, forever it doesn’t matter how much you love him, or if you knew him from when you were a hum-” she stopped talking then. She, as a human wasn’t supposed to know about a vampires human life. It was a against the rules. But how did she know that I knew Tom from when I was a human? She was after all a human herself.

That was when I saw the necklace she was wearing. It was a pentagram with a circle around it. Then I looked into her eyes, they were the same eyes of a person that practiced witchcraft. Why didn’t I see it before? The day that I arrived here when I got burned by the sun. There was a gust of wind, that wasn’t wind at all, it was her. She was the reason that I got burned.

I hated her, but at the same time I loved her, because she was the reason that Tom and I have gotten so close together.  She was the reason that Tom gave me some of my human memories back, yes there was more memories to be found, but Tom had to keep the bite marks from being shown, so he wore a scarf around his neck. Bill has asked him about it but Tom always turns the question around to something else.

“You practice witchcraft, you know that is against the law, for a human consort to do witchcraft, that stuff stains your blood, and if a vampire drinks a witches blood it can kill them. Not only are you a witch but you are also a devil worshiper. ”

“Is this true Jen?” said a voice from the door way. We all turned around to see King Louis, standing there looking pissed off as the devil himself.

“N-n- n- no.” she lied. And the king knew it.

“You lie, and to the king, guards!” yelled the king. The guards came running into the room like they owned the damn place, they grabbed Jen and carried her to the basement, that was wear a human was sent to if they did their vampire family wrong. She would be kept there as a prisoner till the king said that it was okay to let her out.

“Tom, I want to talk to you.” Tom grabbed my hand and led me with him. “No Tom, alone.” said the king. Tom released me and left.

“Don’t you think that this dress would look good on you?” my sister asked holding up a short red dress. After the king left with Tom he ORDERED that I spend some time with my sister. So she took me to a human mall. The place that used to be my sanctuary was now the place I hated. Too many people there, people trying to act cool in front of others. Dressing in that stereotype because it is ‘in’ now. I mean come on, sometimes you humans can be so pathetic at times.

We walked by a couple of girls and they stopped and stared openly at us and for no reason. We stared back at them. The girls had to be in their teens.

“Oh my GOD! I loooove your hair, wear did you get it done!?” one of them asked. They were preppies. This was great not only did I despise stereotype wanna bees. But I hated perky preppies the most.

    “In a salon.”

    “Oh, so what’s your name?”

    “Jane Doe” I told her.

“Oh wow that’s a cool name.”

“Your an idiot.” said my sister. I laughed. Then we ran off before she could blink, and before she could say anything again. Jane Doe was what cops call a dead female victim when they don’t have any ID for them.

As we were running I told my sister, “I am never going to a human mall again, if I was human I would have killed myself a looong time ago.” I mimicked the girls voice. Candy laughed.

I loved running the way the wind blew your hair in the back of your head. The way humans turn around because they felt a breeze but nothing was there. I would sometimes mess with the humans too, pull there hair as I ran by, but they would just rule it off as the wind, only because they could figure out why there hair moved.

Running also reminded me of my human life, I used to be on the track team, I was the fastest runner they had, maybe that was why I was such a good runner when I was a vampire. When the castle came into view my sister and I could see Tom waiting outside for us. I smiled.

“Hey Tom, what did your father wan to talk to you about?” I asked him. My smile faded when I saw his face, he looked depressed. His eyes that usually were a natural brown color were now a dully color. His face looked pale, well paler than normal.

“I need to talk to you, alone, upstairs, now.” he grabbed my hand slightly too hard. And dragged me upstairs. He never said a word, nor did he look at me. He just pulled me up the stairs. We went right past my room and into his, slamming the door behind him.

“My father is suspicious about us.” he told me as he passed back and forth on his floor. “He asked me if at any point that we have disobeyed your marriage. I told him no” his eyes looked wiled. They were glowing red, he took hold of my arms and pulled me to him.

“What are we going to do now?” I asked him desperately. I didn’t have feelings for Tom the way I did Don, I loved Don he was my husband, but why did I feel something for Tom? Everything was so confusing to me at this point.

“He doesn’t have to know about us.” Tom said with that hunter look In his eyes. He was once again the predator. And I was once again the prey.

    “What do you mean?”

“How can you be so blind? Lori, I love you, I have loved you since the first time that I have saw you. And my father doesn’t want me to because you are married to another.  And vampires don’t do divorce. The only way we can be together is if Don is dead or murdered. I will kill him if you want me to.”

“NO! I don’t want Don dead. I love Don, I have since we were married.” Tom’s face fell.

“You mean to tell me that you don’t love me? Not even a little bit anymore?”

“No Tom, I have feelings for you but I don’t know what they are yet. I’m just so confused.” I started to sniffle and Tom pulled me to him once again into a hug. His shirt was so big that I felt like I was swimming in it. And his belt buckle was pushing against my lower stomach. His head was resting on my shoulder, while I pushed mine as far as it would go into the crook of his neck.  I sighed. Halloween was close, the best time of the year for us vampires, because we get to go up to the human world. Instead of being underground in our own world.

But that also meant that there was only 2 more months till’ Don came back. And to tell you the truth I had a bad feeling, something bad was going to happen. Something that no one expected was coming.

The storm was coming, the quiet would soon be interrupted by the sound of a war raging toward us.  Everything was going to end, and in the ashes would be born the new Underground Vampire World.
