He married princess Rachel, also according to His own Father's influence. He didn't love her and therefore never slept with her.
Both Wayne's father and Katerina became lovers while they were both married until Katerina became pregnant, though she told the king that it wasn't his child, it was Lionel's child and that made the king angry and he broke off their relationship.
Nine months later, Katerina gave birth to a baby girl and called her Kate. Short form for Katherine.
Since she and the king where no longer together, Katerina decided to devote more time to her family and her husband even though she didn't love him, she now had a baby with him and therefore had to start behaving responsibly.
She named the child after herself, Kate. A perfect carbon copy of her. A child after her own heart. Her very first girl child. She named the child Kate because she wanted the child to be like her , but not Katerina because she didn't want the child to make or inherit the same mistakes Katerina did. Katerina meant trouble and instead named her Katherine.
She later gave birth to Kate's three other sisters, Yvonne, Vivienne and Winifred.
And over twenty years later, Wayne's father came to the Fitzmans to strike a business deal with Lionel, when he saw Katerina again and their old spark was renewed.
Soon after, Katerina started sneaking off again to see the king and they were thoroughly enjoying themselves until Wayne, a now grown up man, caught them one day and threatened his father that he was going to tell the Queen if he didn't stop seeing Katerina; so the King had no choice but to stop their affair and Katerina became angry and poisoned the Queen's food which made the Queen die and their relationship continued again with the Queen no longer in the way
Katerina's love had turned to obsession and she was going to do whatever it took to be with the king even if that meant eliminating anyone who stood in her way.
After a year with their relationship still going on blissful, the King had finally suggested that Katerina come live with him to be his wife and mistress, so Katerina left Lionel and all her children to go and be with the king.
But Lionel who had been suspecting that a relationship was going on between his wife and his friend, the King of England, followed Katerina and found out that she was going to meet the King ,and become his mistress after leaving her family.
The journal had further said that Wayne had been very bitter, angry and jealous that Katerina was marrying his father and Lionel also was angry that His wife was leaving him and their four children for his friend........
And that was where the journal ended. It didn't say how she died but it was very likely that it was that day when she went to meet the King in the castle to marry him, that she died. The same day she left her family. The last day she wrote in her journal, the same journal that she loved to write in everyday.
One could have easily said Katerina and the then King, were meant for each other, but they went about it the wrong way. Katherine thought wistfully. Reading her mother's journal made her see her mother in a different perspective. Made her see her mother for what she really was. Funny how much you can find about a person from just their journal. For a long time she had painted a perfect picture of what her mother was but now she knew better.
And Katherine figured one thing out. It was either Wayne killed her mother because he was angry she was marrying his father or her father, Lionel, killed his wife because he didn't want her to marry the King, and there was no way her father could kill Her mother because he loved her so much, and it could be Wayne who did it, her first suspect, but she knew in Her heart that Wayne couldn't do something like that, wouldn't do something like that, her instincts were telling her he was telling the truth when he said that he wasn't the one that killed Katerina but at that moment there was just so much hurt that she couldn't believe him and her instincts were never wrong.
So she came to the conclusion that she didn't have the full story, didn't know the full story and the only person who would know the story was someone who lived in the castle himself and watched it all happen and play out. Someone like Wayne.
So she had no choice but to go to Wayne to get the whole truth because he did owe her that. That was the only way she was going to finally come to terms with her mother's death and make peace with what had happened. She had promised herself to use her last penny and her last breath to put anyone who killed her mother in jail be it her husband or her father but now, she didn't know if she could do it, knowing now that it was going to be somebody she loved or cared about .
Finally, the truth after so much lies. It didn't mean she was going back to him she reminded herself sternly. She was only going to get answers. She would have asked Wayne's father himself, one of the main people in the story, or even better still, her mother, but the truth was that they were both dead. Stone cold and already rottening by now. And Queen Rachel was dead too. Poisoned. So the only other person was Wayne.
She didn't want to ask her father because he didn't really know the whole story but may or may not have played a crucial part in her death and she didn't want to start accusing her father for something she wasn't sure of.
but you could accuse your husband? Someone you supposedly trust without knowing the full story either? She felt cold. Where did that thought come from. But it was true. She had accused Wayne without knowing the full story either.
She didn't want to admit it to herself, but some part of her was happy that she was finally going to be seeing him again.
part of her knew that the only reason why she had left him that day, after they'd made love was because she was scared, and not because of her mother's death.
It had nothing to do with her mother's death. She was scared that for the first time in her life, she was finally loving a man. Finally putting her trust in a man. Finally becoming this same, man's lover. Finally learning to rest and depend on a man and the worst thing was that, she didn't know how he felt about her. At that moment, he could have easily broken her heart if he wanted to, and was going to get away with it. At that moment, she had been vulnerable and even till now, was still vulnerable. She had been looking for an excuse to leave him without even knowing it and when one finally came, she jumped at it and left. She had been looking for an excuse to finally say that her husband wasn't perfect. An excuse to finally break everything because things were going so well and she was scared that one day, everything was going to come crashing down
She had trust issues. She finally conceded that. After all, her own mother had left her when she needed her the most. She hadn't wanted to ever depend on any person for her happiness again, yet, she had found herself doing so with Wayne, but God help her, she couldn't live without him. Not now, not ever. And she was going to tell him that, after he told her the story of her mother's death. but it wasn't going to matter, if he was the one that killed her. So she hoped to God that he wasn't.
