Chapter 3
That dark, eerie sound of his voice sent shivers down my spine. My hands were shaking uncontrollably and my legs went numb almost instantly. When he would use that voice I was scared to death.
" I'm sorry I lost track of time- I " He cut me off and grabbed my arm, pulling me like a ragdoll towards him.
"You useless little bitch, you had one responsibility and you’re out whoring around.”
He swung me violently as I flew into a chair before falling over. I couldn't move. Before I had the chance, he raised the iron rod and hit me in the back repeatedly. I tried to move into a fetal position but that's when he grabbed a hold of my foot , dragging me out onto the floor behind him.
"Daddy don't. Please, I'm sorry."
Just then I noticed my mom walked by. In a state of panic I began to shout.
“Mom!” I shouted desperate for her to stop and say or do something. As usual, she paid little attention to me. The anger spiked up through me, I hated her almost as much as I hated him.
"Mom, help me please?" A high pitch whine left me while she walked out of the room so casually, it was as if we were having an everyday conversation.
He pulled my hair as I heard the tear of some strands coming out. He hit me in the face and at first I fought back. I figured if I squirmed enough I might be able to inch myself away. This only pissed him off more because he began to whack me repeatedly in the stomach. I tried to roll over so I could spit out the blood that I began to choke on because it was filling my lungs. I couldn't cry or scream or even moan, I just layed there, wincing with every strike.
My back finally gave out and I couldn't crawl, let alone leave. I could barely move so I gave up andjust laid on the ground absorbing the cold cement floor against my face as my nose dripped blood onto my lips, leaving a coppery taste. Soon enough he finally gave up, by then I had passed out.
Several hours later I woke up finding it hard to move but it wasn’t impossible . It was dark out so Imade my way outside. Limping slowly I managed to walk down the road thinking if I could just find someone I'd be alright. Stumbling a few times, I deemed this pointless and that’s when I caved to me knees and started to cry. Tasting nothing but the salt from my crying and a dried up copper I laid in the grass off the side of the road. From what I could tell it had only been minuted when suddenly I heard laughter.Thank God.
"Hello..... please who's there?" I shouted hoping someone could see me although my shouting probably was less audible than I had wanted it to be. Shouting was more effort than I had energy for.
"Ali? “ The footsteps grew closer.
“Oh hey what are you?- Jesus Christ, Tom help me get her up.” At first I wasn’t sure who it was until the faded images grew closer and right away I had noticed Riley.
"Was it your dad?"
The look on Riley's face was pure shock. I let out a cry in pain as he lifted me up gently, trying to prevent any further by carrying me safely in his arms. Under any other circumstances I would have never let him pick me up and carry me like a baby. Today I would make that exception.
"Oh shit, this is bad. Listen sweetheart I'm going to take you to our place you'll be safe, then we'll call the cops.” He tightened his grip, I was falling in and out of consciousness but I heard what he said. I let out a muffle in protest because he couldn’t call the cops.
"No cops, my dad's got connections.” That was all I remember before Riley hushing me, wiping thesticky blood covered hair out of my face.
I heard voices but my head and body hurt so much my eyelids refused to stay open. Then I heard Nick mutter something like I'll take care of it, then a door slammed shut. When I woke up it was still dark and I was laying on a huge bed while Riley had a cold cloth on my forehead. I managed a "Hey" Sounding like a frog because of how groggy my voice was.
