Chapter 10
I’ve been here for about a week, it wasn’t bad. In fact when I wasn’t worrying about Nick I was actually really enjoying Riley’s company.Every single day I couldn’t help but check my phone or look out the window to see if Nick was coming every time I heard a car. I saw the look on Riley’s face when he noticed what I was doing, he was sure Nick wasn’t coming back.
It's hard to be around Riley, after everything with Nick and kissing Riley. It was confusing but I was well enough to leave and still I found myself here. Maybe in part I was waiting for Nick . I just didn't know where he'd go and why no one’s heard from him. I've always thought of Riley as a jerk with a soft spot but he's a much better guy than I ever thought. When I told him that, he laughed and told me not to think so much.
I'll admit Riley 's been a great distraction but sometimes it felt like a little more. I wasn’t lonely at all because my friends would come and visit- except Chloe who was convinced I would take Nate away. Riley always gave Nate a hard time calling him "Lonely boy" and " Toddler". Everyday for the first week I was bed ridden from pain , Riley rented all the old school classics and sat in bed and watched them with me.
I woke up and got dressed slowly making my way to the kitchen.
"Morning!" Riley sang joyously.
"Is it? It's way to early." I made my way to the chair and sat down.
Riley handed me a bowl of chocolate ice cream and syrup while sitting down next to me eating his.
"Ice cream for breakfast?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Wait until you see what's after breakfast!" Riley smirked.
I looked at him waiting for an answer I wasn't going to get. After breakfast which was amazing by the way, Riley drove us out to White Sand Cove where there was a horse and a man who's face I couldn't recognize in the distance.
"Riley want to explain what we're doing?"
"You've been cooped up so we're going horse back riding!"
"There's only one horse." I stated flatly as we walked towards the beach, I recognized the guy to be Tom.
"You’re not strong enough to ride on you’re own, so you’re coming with me." Riley said as I rolled my eyes.
"Oh please, I'm sure this is apart of some kinky fantasy of yours." I laughed.
"Hey Tom." Riley nodded.
"Hey bud, the stuff is all ready for you." Tom winked at me.
"What stuff?" I looked in Tom's direction who shrugged before pretending to zip his lips and throw away the key.
"Tom, can I talk to you for a second?" I asked pulling him aside.
"Sure thing."
Riley watched us intently as I walked over and turned myself away from Riley, facing Tom to talk to him far enough that Riley wouldn’t hear.
"You haven't heard from Nick at all, have you?" I asked hopefully.
"Nah darlin' I haven't, sorry." Tom patted my back and pulled me into a hug.
"Go easy on Riley, this whole thing is rough on him too." He whispered looking a little concerned for Riley.
" I know , I will." I smiled before turning back to Riley feeling strange about what Tom had just said before leaving.
"What was that about?" Riley asked while helping me onto the horse.
"Tom asked me out tonight." I teased jokingly.
