I stare at Hailey in shock.

"I'm sorry! You don't have to come anymore today. I'll go on my own."

"But they'll hurt you."

"It's fine! I'm used to it! Just think of it as my bargaining for your forgiveness.", she stares at her hands, burying them in her lap.

I rub my hand over her hair, "Alright. Let's go."

"What?"

I stand up and offer her my hand, "Let's go Hailey.", she grabs my hand and I pull her up.

We climb out of the gate and I feel a rush of excitement and fear. I grab Hailey's hand. She seems not to notice that much. That's good, I don't want to have to tell her that I'm kind of scared.

"Since my mothers aren't home, I want to show you where I live."

"Okay."

Hailey leads me down the semi-lit path. There aren't many lights in the town. I can see all sorts of buildings in the far distance.

We arrive at a cute little house. Smaller than mine. Smaller than most of the houses we passed. It's cute though. Like it came out of a storybook. Red brick roof, tanish yellow walls, daisies in the yard, a white picket fence. One story. Still a pretty large backyard in comparison to the house size. The front door is bright red.

Hailey unlocks the door and pulls me inside, shutting the door behind us. She runs to a room in the back and runs back to me, "They still aren't here so I'll give you a tour."

She shows me the kitchen, bathrooms, her mothers' rooms, and the dining and living room. When we get to her room she gets fidgety. I open the door while she babbles on to herself about how messy it might be.

I look around the room. The walls are white but she's drawn on parts of them. Her bed has neat sky blue sheets, she has a dark oak night table and a matching dresser. The floor is wooden too but it has a carpet on it that matches the bed sheets. It's decorated in butterflies and flowers.

"Cute.", I say, sitting on her bed.

She sits next to me quietly, "Do you want anything?"

"Aren't we pressed for time? We have to meet those girls, right?"

"Look, you really don't have to go."

I put my hand in hers, "I want to Hailey. You're my best friend. I'd do anything to help you."

I squeeze her hand, "Okay?"

She squeezes back, "Okay."
