This was something no one in the akatsuki expected. when faced with the huge man, you were so nervous, you spoke so quietly he could barely hear you, and had to resist the urge to cower away. When put on a team with him and Hidan, you replied to him with nothing but sarcasm. He couldn't understand why you were being like that to him, yet caring to Hidan. He soon realized that perhaps you were scared of him and vowed to show the girl who had stolen his heart that he wasn't a monster. It worked.
