Being held in the arms of the one who loves you sounds beautiful when you imagine it. Some people imagine it their entire lives and never experience it. For me, I was definitely experiencing it even if the feeling wasn't reciprocal. That was the sad part, this wasn't beautiful, not for me. This was guilt taking my heart and dancing with it. Guilt had overtaken every other feeling that I could have at the moment. Life being unfair is an understatement. Life is cruel and bitter in the sense of not being loved back. The guilt that I shouldn't even have in the first place was so powerful that I began to question my love for Maximilian and whether or not I should leave him for Rafael. But I knew that wasn't right.

Letting Rafael sleeping with me in his arms was the least I could do to make him feel a tad bit better. However, all good things must come to an end at some point.

"I made you breakfast, love."

"Not hungry."

"You're mad at me, aren't you?"

I shook my head. "No, I'm not angry with you, just disappointed. I was beginning to trust and confide in you as a really close friend and you go and do this. I was getting comfortable with you and when I turn around you put a knife in my back."

He ran to his own defense. "But Oasis! I'm not trying to hurt you. I'm trying to love you because I know that it's what you've wanted all along! It's why you went through all this drama, pain, and stress. And it's not worth it when someone like me can easily help you. Let's try this."

"Try what exactly?"

"Try us. Trust me for once, I won't let you down."

"I'm telling you this for the final time. No."

Rafael had more tricks up his sleeve. This was far from the end for him. "You don't go anywhere until you're mine. I will hold you captive for as long as it takes."

"Someone's going to wonder where I am and come looking. This can't last forever."

He gave a sinister laugh which I had never heard come from his lips before. "Who? That little girl? She doesn't scare me. I'm not concerned about her."

"What about my aunt, Genesis? She's calling you right now." I sat up and my chained arm gestured towards his cell phone that was vibrating in his hand.

He gulped but picked it up anyway. "Hey Mrs. Leigh... Oh, I actually forgot about that appointment... No, we don't have to reschedule it, I can come now. Just give me a minute." He hung up and ended the conversation. "I'm going somewhere and I'll be back soon, so don't go anywhere, my dear."
