October 18, 2016 | Tuesday
Today called for two special occasions that just so happened to fall on the same day. Max's five week mark in rehab was today, along with Rafael's 31st birthday.
"If I were you, I'd go to Rafael's party, he's cute," Medina said as I brushed my hair.
"Cuteness is not the only reason to like someone, Medina. I haven't seen Max in forever, it's better for me to go and see him than Rafael. And how do you know that Raf is having a party?"
"I may or may not have checked your phone notifications when you were using the bathroom."
"Medina!"
"Sorry! I had to check. He gave you two of the heart emojis, the ones with arrows through them. It's a sign."
"Did he give a time for this mysterious party?"
"8:30."
"I guess I will be able to make it."
"If you go can I tag along?"
"I dunno if that's the best idea. You're only 15 and there's always a chance that this might be an adult party with stupidity and alcohol. Speaking of alcohol, neither of us are old enough to drink anyways. It is also a school night, and you know how Ocean is."
Despite not having anyone besides me and Medina know that he was still alive, Ocean was still the same. And although she hung around me 99.9% of the time, Medina lived with Ocean and he took care of her, like a little sister. Our little sister. I always wanted one.
"Fine, but Rafael is the full package girl, I'm telling you."
"That's what you believe."
I unplugged my phone from it's charger and saw that I had and saw that there were actually a few unread messages that Medina hadn't seen yet.
8:15 | Rafael: You know what you can get me for my birthday? Absolutely nothing. I just want you to spend the whole day with me.
Sadly, Rafael wouldn't be able to have his birthday wish today. Max came first.
8:16 | Me: I'm sorry that I can't take you up on that offer, but I'm sure I can make it to your birthday party. I made plans with a close friend today. Maybe tomorrow?
8:16 | Rafael: Tomorrow is fine, it's alright. Tell Max I said hi too.
I groaned out of frustration. Rafael had nothing to be upset or jealous about when it came to Max; he could have any other woman he wanted but he chooses me. Not the smartest decision if we're going to be honest here. I've been saying this all along.
I was overjoyed to say the least. Max was too. Before he even said a word to me, Max picked me up and swung me around in circles. I got a little dizzy but I didn't care at all. It was as if the same boy from that summer day was staring at me all over again. Almost nothing changed.
"I missed you so much, Oasis."
"I missed you too!" I hugged him tightly.
