"Silver hair works for you Oasis," Cameron complimented me as I entered the office.
"Thank you."
I had gotten my hair dyed silver a few days ago when I was getting absolutely bored with my look. Seeing the same style in the mirror every morning drained my energy so I chose to switch it up. I also cut it, since I got sick of going through a lengthy process every time I wanted to do my hair. Maximilian actually begged me not to cut it because he claimed to be "in love with my hair". I told him that he shouldn't worry since it would grow back fast but that didn't matter to him.
I wasn't even exactly sure why I specifically chose to dye it silver, I just thought it was the best option. Cyan would probably have made me look like a mermaid, I don't like blonde, magenta is a simple no, and green was my least favorite color.
"Good morning, gorgeous!" Yvette ran a finger through my hair as she went pass me.
"Good morning, Yvette!"
Everyone was so cheery and perkier than usual today. I wasn't sure if it was because they wanted a positive working environment for me, or they were just genuinely happy. Either way, it was nice to be back. My first assignment of the day was to do an advice column on how to deal with stress. Honestly, I was surprised that this was what I was chosen for because most of the time stressing was something I loved to do. But, I still thought that this was something manageable. When I was about 75% done with my work, I heard arguing down the hall to where all of the models were doing another photoshoot.
"It's not that big of a deal! Just get dressed so we can take these photos!" I heard someone yell, probably the photographer.
"No! This isn't my color, and I've told you that numerous times! I don't wear blue!"
"Hon, I'm begging you, just go to the dressing room and put it on!"
"I quit! Find yourself another model Carmen!"
I scrunched up my face. Carmen? Not the "psychic chick" from the cafe, right? Well, I wasn't about to go and find out, I had an article to complete.
"Oasis? Oasis I know you're in here," Carmen's voice called out.
Damn it, it was her.
If she were to see me, I knew she would want to strike up some kind of conversation or do something weird. So, I put my face in a previous issue of Ethereal and tried to avoid her. However, the magazine was quickly snatched from my face.
"Nice try, Oasis. I knew you were here already. But before you say anything, I'm not here bother you. Actually, rephrase that, I need you to do me a favor."
"Uh, sure. But when did you start working here?"
"A year ago. I do this plus the cafe. But anyways, one of the models just bailed on me and I need a new model. So can you help?"
"Help you find a new model? Sure!" I got up from my swivel chair.
"No, Oasis that's not what I meant. I'm asking if you can be the replacement model."
"Nope. I have no modeling experience whatsoever."
She laughed. "You don't need any modeling experience. Just go in there and look gorgeous, it's easy." Carmen winked.
