Finally un-grounded and It was winter break as well.  I also somehow found myself going to Ashley's and to the mall with her. She was picking up a few more things for Christmas as I stumbled behind her still lost in my thoughts like I have been for a while. Devin hasn't been seen in school for this whole month. Again it seemed as if he never was here in the first place. I go to the park often at night after everyone is fast asleep and try to look for him there. Not sure why I keep thinking he is there but every time I hoped he was. Ashley took her sweet time looking through the mall for things as well as trying to get me to become happy. Once we got to the food court for lunch She punched my shoulder bringing my attention to her.

"You sure have been this way for a while. Even in school."

"Sorry. I'm so caught up on something."

She blinked twice and than smiled at me. "Or someone."

I sat straight up gazing into her eyes and almost tipping my cola cup over. Ashley caught it in time though and glared at me.

"N-no!"

"It's gotta be about that new kid."

"Didn't you just hear what I said I said No."

"Violet I've known you for ages and I know when your lying and when you are telling me the truth."

"It's just. He left me so stunned and then disappears without a word. He pisses me off."

She giggled at me. "I think someone is love struck."

I slouched in my seat tacking a bite out of my sandwich and talking with my mouth full. "Never."

"Your just lying to yourself Violet. And stop talking with your mouth full."

I swallowed what I had in my mouth quickly and took a sip of my cola.

"I actually found it that he is just on a job thing with his father. No one knows what not even the principle. But they will be back soon."

We stood up and walked around the store a bit more until it was time to go home. We drove in silence with only the radio keeping the silence from becoming to occurred. I turned my head facing the window and spotted something familiar to me. I sat straight up and grabbed Ashley's shoulder. She jumped a little and took a quick look at me.

"What?"

"Stop the car real quick."

She did as I asked without asking and I quickly got out of the car with her shouting my name out the window. I ran quickly to the park. Someone was sitting on the swing seat in black. The snow was cold but I didn't care.

"D-" I reached out and the person stopped swinging back and fourth. "Devin!" I grabbed the sleeve of the black cloak and the man turned around. I couldn't help but smile as he took the hood of the black cloak off. His smile greeted me with excitement and trust. I slipped on the ice under me but Devin kept me up.

"Angel."

That nickname didn't anger me anymore since he has been gone I've missed it. I froze at the thought of it. Just one night brought me closer to this stranger. I blinked and looked up at him.

Many years ago came back to me and the thought of Ashley and I swinging on the swings right here came back to me. There was someone always here. Devin was always here when I was. I remember staring out into the distance as we swing and finding a young boy in a black cloak standing in the darkness of the park, smiling at me. Once in a while I'd find myself smiling back at him as well. Dad after a while stopped bringing me here because he thought I was seeing things when I told him about the young boy I keep seeing.
