When the clouds were left behind us, all there was to be seen was blue sea. We continued going forward, hoping it would lead to Rome. Our mounts flew at pretty quickly, about as fast as a plane, but there was still a lot to go.
We rode in silence as our mounts sailed through the skies, sometimes rising so our heads were swallowed by the clouds, and sometimes decreased altitude, where we smelled the fresh ocean ahead.
No boat or ship was present throughout the journey up until then, and there seemed to be none coming from any harbor either.
When the sun started to set, Skylar lay on my back as Stormo continued. I noticed Lukas strapped in so he wouldn't fall off into the sea, also dozing off. Theo was wide awake, staring intently ahead.
My eyes started to roll into my head, but I tried to stay focused and awake. Probably after the night and a few more hours of riding, we would be in Europe. It should've been easier from there.
I could tell Stormo and the unicorns were getting tired, as they started to descend to the point where they were almost running on the water of the ocean.
We needed to find Europe, fast.
When the sun rose, I looked at Theo, who had also strapped himself in, and was taking a nap. Lukas was awake, but still dozy. I was going to rest a little myself, but Skylar was sleeping, and it would be risky if I had slept with no rider awake.
"I'm awake," she muttered, groggily. I had to get used to her reading my thoughts.
"Well, good morning," I said.
"Good morning," she replied. "Sleep."
Normally I would've objected, but I was pretty tired after riding the whole day yesterday and last night. I leaned back against Skylar and fell unconscious.
I had a dream, obviously. Another flashback.
This time though, it was more recent. I saw the storm, and what had happened: me trying to save the people, meeting Stormo, holding onto the windowsill, the windowsill breaking, going into the tornado and getting smacked by a car.
That wasn't it though. After the car slammed into me, I seemed to slip away from my body, and saw everything in a third person perspective. My body, slammed by the car, floated out of the tornado. I hovered out as well, and noticed my unconscious body flying away, the opposite direction of the storm.
The Mountains of Despair.
Of course, I knew it was there, but I couldn't see it, since there was a gateway in between. All I saw was some plains, known as the Storm Plains. I knew the story of what happened after that, so I decided to go somewhere else in my dream if I could.
I tried following Bill's truck, which was moving away from the village at 200 miles per hour.
With my ghost form, I moved faster, almost as fast as Stormo and finally reached the truck. I was very aware that the people there couldn't see me, so I casually flew in from the back. Stormo was there, whimpering as a girl about my sister's age, Madelyn, was trying to heal the wound.
All of the villagers were in shock, their eyes wide open.
I heard a crying sound from my sister in the passenger seat, so I slipped through the thin wall which was blocking me from seeing. I stood between her and Bill, watching as she sobbed, thinking I had passed.
