You were shoving your books in your locker at the end of the school day when the voices kicked in again. You'd gotten used to tuning them out, but they were always there. The moment you let your guard down, they took over your head full force. They were mostly whispers and you weren't sure what they were saying, but it made it really hard to think with all the noise in your head. When they'd first started it had been scary and your parents had been worried and tried to check you into Eichen House. You'd had to work really hard at appearing normal, to convince them you were fine, even though you weren't. It had taken weeks, and many late nights doing research, but you'd figured out what was happening. You were a banshee. You didn't know exactly what it meant, or how to control it, but you were trying to figure it all out. However, it was moments like this where your frustration hit it's peak. Slamming your locker shut, you sighed and leaned against it, sliding to the floor and covering your ears with your hands. You glanced down the hallway, glad to see it was empty and there was no one around to see your breakdown. You slid your eyes shut as tears began to track down your cheeks, praying that your head would just be quiet. You were so involved with trying to calm yourself you didn't hear the footsteps coming towards you. You jumped when someone placed their hand on your shoulder.

"Are you alright?" You opened your eyes and looked up. Isaac Lahey was crouched before you, a look of concern etched across his handsome face.

Wiping your face with the back of your hands you shot him a watery smile. "I'm fine."

"No, you're not." He turned and slid himself down the rest of the way to the floor, settling next to you, his long legs stretched out before him. "But I get it. You don't know me very well, I don't expect you to go spilling all your secrets."

You wanted to roll your eyes but you just didn't have the energy. The voices had quieted down a little bit though so you figured you'd humor him. "All my secrets? Do you even know my name?"

"Well, yeah, Y/N. You sit in front of me in History."

Your cheeks flushed in embarrassment. Of course you knew that. "Oh. Yeah."

"Look, if you need to talk or something..."

You shook your head. "You wouldn't understand."

"You'd be surprised. I just don't want to see you look so upset. You're too pretty to be sitting here crying." He blushed, tugging on the scarf around his neck.

You were speechless. Isaac Lahey just told you he thought you were pretty. "Uh...thanks." You cleared your throat, feeling awkward.

"Look, I'm sorry, this isn't the best time for this. Maybe I should go." Isaac stood up.

"Wait!" You scrambled to your feet. "What is it?" You winced as the voices got louder again.

Isaac looked at you, the blush creeping back on his cheeks. "It's just, I don't know. I've been trying to gather up the courage to ask you out. I'm not very good at talking to people sometimes. Forget about it, okay?"

The noise in your head seemed to get louder with every word he spoke. You hands shot to your ears again. Isaac frowned.

"What is it? What's wrong?"

You shook your head, clamping your hands against your head harder, a migraine springing up between your eyes.

"Y/N. I know what you are. You need to scream. It'll help, trust me." He nodded his head in encouragement and put his own hands to his ears as you took a deep breath and did as he said. All at once the voices stopped. The silence was wonderful, and you felt yourself pitching forward in relief. Isaac was there to catch you, steadying you on your feet.

"Better?"

"How did you know?" You gripped his arms, his hands still on your waist where he'd stopped you from falling.

"Lydia is a banshee, too. She does the same thing when the voices get to be too much."

"Really?"

"Yeah. You should talk to her about it, compare notes. There's a lot more supernatural stuff going on around here than you know."

"Okay."

Isaac seemed to realize he was still holding you, and he backed off slightly, hands dropping to his sides. "Well, I guess I'll see you around." He gave you a small smile and turned to walk away.

"Isaac."

He stopped and turned slightly. "Yeah?"

You jogged forward to catch up to him, stopping in front of him and staring down at your shoes. "I'd, um, love to. Go out sometime, I mean." You looked up at him hopefully.

His face lit up with a smile. "Really?"

"Yeah. If the offer still stands."

All at once he swooped down, his lips meeting yours in a sweet kiss. You were shocked at first, but managed to compose yourself and kiss him back. His lips were soft and he tasted like mint. It was over too soon as he pulled away and grinned at you. "Absolutely it does."

"Good." You breathed. "And thank you for your help."

"Anytime. Can I walk you to your car?" He asked.

"Sure."

Isaac wrapped his arm around your shoulder and guided you to the door.

"So, what other supernatural stuff do I not know about?"

He grinned and you swore his eyes turned gold for a moment. "I'm not sure I'm the right person to tell you. I hear Stiles has a way of explaining that includes a chess board and post-it notes."

You chuckled as you left the building. You had a feeling that your life had just begun to get pretty interesting.
