You sighed as you slumped into your seat in Chemistry class. You were exhausted from all the drama going down with your friends and their "wolfy" problems. You were up late the night before on the phone with Allison as she gave you a rundown about the situation with Isaac and the twins. Isaac was hellbent on revenge, and Scott was trying to make him see reason. Which was why you currently felt like you could cut the tension in the room with a knife. You glanced over at Scott, his brow furrowed as he stared at the back of Isaac's head. The taller boy was gripping the sides of his desk so hard his knuckles were white.
"Leave it, Isaac." Scott was muttering. "It's not worth it."
"Yes, it is." He bolted up from his seat, interrupting Mr. Harris mid sentence. "I need to use the bathroom."
Mr. Harris raised his eyebrows and motioned for the door, but Isaac was out of his seat, and already halfway there.
You rolled your eyes when Scott stood up and tried to follow, making it seem like a bathroom emergency, but Mr. Harris was having none of it.
"Mr. McCall. If your bladder suddenly exploded and urine began to pour from every orifice, I would still respond 'one at a time.'"
Scott sat down with a huff, the girl sitting next to him giggling. You turned in your seat and caught Scott's eye. He frowned and mouthed 'twins' at you and you nodded in understanding.
You faced front again, trying to concentrate on Mr. Harris and his boring lecture about momentum. You stuck the end of your pen in your mouth as you thought about Isaac. You hoped he wasn't getting himself into any trouble. It was no secret to your friends (well, to Allison and Lydia at least) that you were harboring some major feelings for the boy. You were pretty sure Scott and Stiles were aware too, but they never mentioned anything, which was probably for the best. Isaac was sweet, you had been friendly with him before the whole wolf thing, and then he'd been quiet and shy. Now he was more outspoken, more confident, and maybe a little dangerous. And that, you definitely liked.
You were brought out of your thoughts by a banging coming from the hallway. Mr. Harris strode quickly towards the door and flung it open, stepping into the hall. You and Scott were the first out of your seats to follow behind him. There was Isaac, standing in the hallway looking shocked and angry, a bloody and beaten Ethan at his feet. Danny pushed past you to rush to his boyfriend's side, and Ethan made it clear that Isaac had attacked him.
You walked forward, putting your hand on Isaac's arm. His eyes met yours and you looked past him to see Aiden turning the corner. "It was the other one, wasn't it?" you asked him quietly. He nodded, looking over to Scott.
"Detention, Mr. Lahey, tomorrow at lunch. You can spend the rest of the period in the principle's office." Mr. Harris ordered.
You stepped back to let Isaac pass, and he offered you a small smile. "Will you grab my bag for me?"
"Sure. I'll find you after class."
"Today, Mr. Lahey. Or would you like Miss.Y/L/N to join you in detention tomorrow as well?"
Isaac rolled his eyes and winked at you. "No sir. I'm going."
You watched him stroll down the hallway before heading back into class, avoiding the glare of your chemistry teacher as your tried to wipe the smile off your face.
Isaac's attempt to keep you from detention was in vain, since later that day you were sentenced to the same fate when you fell asleep in Econ. Coach, who you liked a lot, didn't take kindly to people snoozing on their desks during his class. You were sitting in Mr. Harris' classroom the next day, when you would have much rather been having a curly fry eating contest with Stiles in the cafeteria. Allison was there too, it seemed the two of you had been too tired to keep awake the previous day, as she confessed to you that she'd fallen asleep in French. You were staring at the back of Isaac's head, thinking about how much you wanted to run your fingers through his curly hair when Mr. Harris cleared his throat and began assigning your tasks.
