Part 11

I stared at the letter then at the bunched up flowers, then back at the letter. Shaking my head, I crumpled up the piece of paper and tossed it in a random corner before picking up the flowers from the chair.

"The man has no mercy, no mercy at all. First he kill humans, and now he just murdered a bunch of flowers. Why can't he just mind his own business and let the plants and humans breathe. He is an angel of death, I swear. The man has serious issues with anything that breathes," I muttered before untying the flowers. I caressed the limp petals and once again cursed Severon for their demise—he was evil.

"This is going to be your fate." I jumped at the sudden voice. I whirled around to see Adone standing their like he owned the place.

"Wanna know what your fate will be?" I asked, ignoring the threat in his words; I would not let these men scare me.

Adone arched his eyebrow in question, which was enough for me to give him an answer. "Single and miserable," I replied.

He narrowed his eyes at me and a thrill of satisfaction shot through me. But when Adone strode towards me with a look that told me I better run before he caught me, I made a mad dash out of the back room...well tried to. Just as I neared the door, Adone caught me by the shoulder and shoved me back inside before slamming the back room door shut.

"What is the matter with you? I've got a job to get back to." I gestured to the door for emphasis.

"No, what is the matter with you? Are you stupid? Why are you deliberately trying to piss Severon off?" Adone demanded to know.

"What's it to you?" I folded my arms over my chest.

"I'm his friend, his foul mood affects me." Adone told me.

"Okay. Can you get out of my way, my shift is about to start." I sighed when Adone didn't move an inch from the door.

"Listen to me, Kelsey. Stop resisting Severon, you won't do anything except make him angry, and trust me, you don't want to see him angry," he stated.

"Okay. Can you tell that to someone who cares, cause I don't." I eyed the flowers again; the poor creatures looked dead.

Adone growled. "You are impossible."

"Not really. Impossible is getting rid of you and your darling friend," I replied, touching the petals, feeling sorry for them.

The sound of a phone ringing had me looking up at Adone. He fished his phone out before accepting the call.

"Sì?—Lei è qui—Sei scuro?—Quando?—Bene." Adone quickly ended the call. (Yes?—She is here—You sure?—When?—Okay)

"Where are you going?" I asked as Adone opened the door.

"I have to go. Bye." And he slammed the door on his way out.

"Well that was just rude." I mean, he wasted my time, and now walked away without telling me anything.

He doesn't have to tell you anything. He doesn't owe you!

Well he wasted my time. I just hope I wasn't too late, thirty minutes passed so quickly. Maybe I should ask Bibiana to give me a sixty minute break, I hope she agreed.

Exiting the back room, I made my way to the counter where I saw Bibiana standing, looking exhausted. All thoughts of asking her for a sixty minute break flew from my mind as I eyed her tired form.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"I need to hire more people," she replied, breathing deeply with a hand placed on her back.
