"In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: It goes on."
-Robert Frost
Chapter 2
We arrived at the apartment just around 11am. We were exhausted to say the least.
"What should we do first?" Joey asks me, coming into my room where I was lying down. As of now, my room only consists of a bed and a lamp. The apartment didn't come with furniture, unfortunately. So, before coming here we bought all the stuff we were going to need right away like beds, dining set, kitchen stuff, and the couches and coffee table for the living room, and had them all delivered here. Now, we just need to unpack them from their boxes and arrange them, as well as unpack our luggage that we brought with us from Indiana.
"Sleep" I said to her. I was seriously tired, I don't know why because the flight wasn't even that long.
She shakes her head at me as she began to pull me by the arm up. "Not an option. We have to start unpacking and fixing the place" I could tell by her voice that she was excited. If I wasn't so tired, I'd be excited too because I've always wanted to live away from home and be independent.
I sighed "How about we start with the kitchen?" Seeing as Joey had no plans on letting me be until were done with the place.
She nods, so we both made our way to our small kitchen. We decided to start with the big appliances. Together, we pushed the refrigerator to the place we want it to be and plugged it in. And oh boy was it heavy. After the refrigerator, the next big thing was the stove, which reminds me, I need to learn how to cook. I better buy a cook book when we go out.
Now that the big stuffs were out of the way, Joey and I made our separate ways as we both carry other things and put them in place.
"We still need plates, utensils, pots, pans..." Joey lists down
"We'll buy those this weekend, and we can buy furniture for our rooms then too" I said as I put the toaster down. We both decided to buy things for our rooms here. We wanted to design our rooms ourselves so that it'll be easier for us to feel at home in our new apartment.
"Why not tomorrow?" she wonders.
"I want to look for a job first"
She raises her eyebrow at me as she dusts off of the microwave "A job? I don't think you'll need a job with how much your mom left you. And your dad is giving you an allowance as well, right?"
"What if there's an emergency and my mom's money runs out? And I don't plan on getting money from my dad for a long time, just until we're settled then I'll tell him he doesn't need to give me money anymore" I tell her as I take a break from unpacking to sit down on one of the dining chairs.
"Trying to be independent, I see" She teases.
I chuckle "I just don't want to be a burden. When we're settled, I'll show him he doesn't have to worry about me anymore" I tell her, seriously.
"okay" She says "Now, could you please fix the dining set? I'm almost done with the kitchen" She was taking the NutriBullet out and putting away the box. She insisted on getting one because of her diet. But I doubt she could stick to her diet for long. Eating is just so fun.
I stand up and started pushing the table to the side of the kitchen, where there was a window with an amazing view of L.A. I also put the chairs in placed. It would be nice to look out here every morning, while drinking coffee.
