Chapter 14

"Good morning!" I greeted Joey as I entered the kitchen. I was already in my uniform, ready for work.

"Wow! You didn't even need me to wake you up" she commented, setting a plate of bacon and eggs on the table.

"Well today must be a good day" I made myself a cup of coffee then took a seat on the table.

Joey sat as well "Looking forward to seeing someone today?" she teased as I placed some bacon and eggs on my plate.

I grinned "I'm looking forward to seeing Steve, Dina, then there's that businessman who works across the street, the old woman who walks her dog every day, and Amanda might also be there too, so I'm looking forward to seeing her" I intentionally left out Tyler's name because I knew it was what she wanted to hear.

"I think you missed someone" Joey had that sly smile on her face.

"Oh I guess I'm looking forward to seeing Tyler too" I said as if it was nothing when deep inside the butterflies in my stomach are going wild.

Joey laughed "Today is going to be an interesting day" she muttered as she took a bite of the bacon.

I finished my breakfast, and then brushed my teeth. I also put perfume on, which I don't usually do because it gives me headaches but today was just a good day so I wanted to look good... well smell good. I grabbed my bag before saying goodbye to Joey and then headed out the door.

I locked the door, took out my headphone and placed them on my ears, ready for my walk to the coffee shop.

When I reached the parking lot, I saw a familiar pickup truck parked near the exit of the apartment building. Tyler was leaning on his car with his hands on his pockets as he smiled at me. And boy did he look good doing it.

"I was a little early at the coffee shop, nobody was there yet so I thought I would pick you up" he explained when I walked towards him.

He led me to the passenger seat and opened the door for me "Really? I know Steve always arrives an hour before we open" I smirked.

I noticed his ears turn pink as he tried to cover up his obvious lie "Maybe he was at the back then, I didn't see him" I doubt that, Steve always cleans the windows in the morning.

"I heard Joey and Cole have made up" Tyler said as he got in the driver's seat and started the car.

"Yep. I convinced her to call him last night"

He eyed me teasingly as he drove out "I told you not to meddle"

"I didn't meddle" I argued and crossed my arms over my chest "I just gave her a push to talk to him. And it worked well because now everyone is happy"

"You're happy?" he asked, keeping his eyes on the road.

I couldn't help but smile "Yes. Very much so"

"That's good to know" Then all of sudden he took my left hand in his, placing both our hands on his leg as he drove.

He held my hand the whole drive to the coffee shop and only let go when we had to park.

"Stay there" he said as I was about to open my door.

He got out of his side and ran to mine then opened my door for me.
