"She only looked away for a moment, and the mask slipped, and you fell. All your tomorrows start here."

-Neil Gaiman, Fragile Things

Chapter 10

I haven't seen Andrew these past few days. I hope he went home already, but I doubt it. I know Andrew. When he says something, he means it. He's just probably waiting for a perfect timing because Tyler has been hanging over me since. He didn't even sit in his usual table anymore. He sat on one of the chairs on the counter near the cashier, probably making sure that if Andrew comes around he'd see that I was with him. I told Tyler that he didn't have to but he insisted. But yesterday was weird. He was just texting on his phone, when he abruptly stood up and ran out the coffee shop. I texted him last night about why he suddenly ran out and all he replied to me was 'heading to NY for something important. Explain to you when I get back'. So he was in New York, that's probably the reason why Cole was here.

"What are you doing here?" I asked Cole when he stepped inside the coffee shop. I already had a hunch as to why he was here though.

"Tyler sent me" he just shrugged and took a seat on one of the chairs in the counter.

Gosh he really is overprotective. "Well you don't have to stay for long. I'm only working till noon today"

"Great! You, me, and Joey can go to the mall or something" I made a face at what he said that's why he continued to say "Don't worry we won't make you feel like a thirdwheel. We won't even hold hands. Promise."

"Okay sure" I agreed, and then went back to work making a latte for a woman.

At exactly noon, I got off work and then Cole brought me home so I can change and pick up Joey. Now, we're in his car on our way to the mall. Joey was telling a story of when she accidentally mixed a bright pink shirt with her whites while doing the laundry the other day, now all her whites had a tint of pink. I zoned out after that.

I wonder what was in New York. Was it a business meeting for his grandfather's company? But why would he suddenly run out like that? Maybe he forgot and that was when he remembered. But Tyler doesn't seem to be the kind of guy who forgets important things like that.

Curiosity got the best of me "Cole, what's in New York?"

He looked at me for second with scrunched eyebrows. I was sitting in the back we only looked at each other through the mirror "You don't know?"

I just shook my head at him. I wouldn't be asking if I knew.

"Well, there's the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Central Park..." He rambled on about places you can see in New York.

I rolled my eyes at him "I meant what's there that Tyler had to go to"

Cole chuckled as he entered the mall parking lot "I knew that". Lucky for us we were able to find a parking space fast. "There's a lead there on Aiden's whereabouts"

"Who is Aiden?" I asked as we got out of the car and started walking to the mall's entrance.

Cole had a confused look "Tyler hasn't mentioned Aiden to you?"

I looked at Joey who was just listening to us and shook my head at Cole "Nope"

Cole studied me for a second "Aiden is Tyler's brother. I'm surprised he hasn't mentioned him to you since you guys see it each other almost every day"
