"You see things. You keep quiet about them. And you understand."

-Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Chapter 9

"Joey! Why the hell is your sling on the couch?" I yelled, holding her sling on my right hand. She got out of the hospital a week ago and was given strict orders by the doctor to wear the sling until he says it's okay to not wear it anymore, but Joey keeps taking it off especially when I'm at work. Luckily, Cole comes over and he also makes sure his girlfriend wears the damn sling.

Joey grudgingly walked out her room and towards me. She grabbed the sling from me and put it on "Happy now?"

I placed my hands on my hips. Mom-mode on "How many times do I have to tell you? Wear the damn sling until the doctor says that your arm is fine"

She groaned and plopped down on the couch "Cole and I are going to the doctor tomorrow and I swear she'll say that my arm is fine"

"Until then, wear it. Got it?"

She sighed "Fine"

"Good" I said as I patted her head like a dog "Cole will be over in a few minutes so don't get any ideas"

"Yes mother" I hear her mutter but I ignored it and just grabbed my bag and walked out the door to head to work. I check my watch to make sure I'm not late. I hate being late and I also hate late people, it's just because I'm a very impatient person. I hate waiting.

I was walking quietly to the coffee shop with my earphones on. I was jamming to Closer by Chainsmokers and singing quietly to it. My music was pretty loud that is why I didn't notice the car stop beside me and when I continued walking it slowly followed me.

The song ended and a slow song came up next, which was when I noticed the pickup truck beside me. The window was rolled down. Tyler was watching me with an amused expression.

"Need a lift?" he asked with a grin plastered on his perfect face. Urghh.

"Don't really need it but since you're practically begging me to get in the car with you, sure" I joked, hopping on the passenger seat.

He just laughed at what I said and started driving. I smiled when I noticed he was listening to 5 Seconds of Summer's song Girls Talk Boys.

"So you like boy bands?" I teased. Don't know why I'm in such a teasing mood, when earlier I was scolding Joey.

"5sos is not a boy band. They are a pop rock band...band. And I wasn't listening to it on purpose, it was on the radio" he defended.

"So you're not a fan?"

"Nope" he said, popping the 'p'. He said he wasn't a fan yet he sang to it and practically knew all the lyrics. I decided to not say anything because I find his singing amusing.

The drive didn't take long. By the end of the song, we were already parked.

When we entered, Steve and Dina looked a little shocked "Oooh. They're coming in together" Dina wiggled her eyebrows at us. She was carrying a box of cookies.

"Saw her walking sadly alone, so I gave her a lift" Tyler walked to the counter and leaned on it "Since you're all busy, I guess I'll be making my own drink" he then proceeded to go in behind the counter and grabbed a cup.

"Good idea" I said. I went to the backroom. I placed my bag down and put my apron on.

When I came out, Steve just placed the open sign. Dina was positioned in the register and Steve went to his place at the back of the counter. I was in charge of cleaning tables and restocking the straws, napkins, sugars, and cream. Tyler on the other hand was in his usual spot. We should probably put a reserved sign for that seat but then again he always comes in before any customer so there is no way someone could beat him to his seat.
