chapter 19: he almost had her

Ambrose's office was very spacious and well decorated.
"Nice place you got here" she was impressed.
"Thanks. Do you want me to get you anything?"
"No. I'll just get straight to the point. I know I said I don't want you near my kids but there has been a change of plan. The kids want to meet you and I was wondering if you'd like to join us for dinner tomorrow. I want to properly introduce you to them."
"I'd love to. What time?"
"At seven o'clock. Don't be late"
Ambrose smiled, he was going to be a part of her life after all.
Ambrose stared at her.
"Stop looking at me like that"
"Like what?" He said it with a sexy smirk on his face. "You scared you gonna fall for me again?"
"No!" she was lying. Her heart was warming up to him. She tried to hate him but couldn't. She hated feeling this way. She didn't love him but if he continued tempting her she knew she'd give in eventually.
"My business here is done. Have a nice day. Bye" she sounded as if she was running away. Ambrose noticed it. If he persisted she would surrender to him. He just knew it. "Don't go just yet. There's something else we need to discuss" he said walking over to where she was. She didn't move. "What could that be?"
"Why do you keep resisting when you're clearly so attracted to me?"
"Ambrose, please stop. You've to move on. I don't love you anymore."
" I can't Larissa. I'm crazy about you. Please give me a second chance. I promise I'll be good " Ambrose was stroking her hair. Just a little more persuasion and she would be his, forever.
"I love you my princess" he said it with a smile on his face. Larissa blushed. All her anger had melted away. She was actually considering giving him a second chance. Ambrose could sense it. This was it, the moment he had been waiting for.
"Ambrose I can't. I don't trust you with my heart."
"I promise I won't hurt you ever again" he was pleading with her.
Larissa was breathless. She couldn't ignore the lust that was building up again.
"Well, since I've already forgiven you and I'm allowing you to be a part of the kids lives I guess there's no harm in...."
Before she could finish someone opened the door. It was Cindy. All the hurt and pain came back to her in a split second.
Cindy could see that and she wanted to make it even worse that it already was.
"Larissa honey, trying your luck with Ambrose? So adorable" Cindy wanted to irritate her.
"You're still with her?" She asked Ambrose. Ambrose didn't respond. Larissa decided to leave his office. She had made up her mind. She was never going to give him a second chance.
