She couldn't sleep. No, really, she didn't get an ounce of sleep. She was just waiting for her alarm to ring so she could prepare for practice.
But her phone rang instead. Mika was calling her.
She sat up and answered the phone.
"Good morning, Babe!" Mika greeted from the other end of the line.
"Babe, why are you still awake? Isn't it like 1am there?" she asked worriedly.
"Babe, di kasi ako makatulog, eh," she heard the sadness in Mika's voice.
"Ako rin, Babe. Hindi ako nakatulog. I miss you already."
"I miss you, too, Babe," Mika replied.
They didn't talk and just listened to each other's breathing for a while.
God, she missed Mika. So much.
Funny thing was Mika wasn't even gone for 24 hours yet. But she will be and the distance between them was something she couldn't cross easily.
This was depressing. She really didn't want that so she decided to make things light instead.
"Babe?"
"Yes, Babe?" Mika replied.
"Uwi ka na, Babe. Di na ako galit."
She heard Mika's melodious laugh. That was enough to make her smile as well. At least, she made Mika happy even though they were miles and miles apart.
"Grabe, Babe. You make me miss you even more."
"I miss you more. Can't wait for you to go back home," she replied softly.
"Just two more days, Babe."
"Yeah, two more days."
She sighed. Two more days still before she sees Mika again. How was she gonna survive two more days and two more nights without sleep?
Seriously, she can't sleep without Mika.
"Babe, behave ka habang wala ako, ah. Kapag ako may nabalitaan or narinig na hindi maganda, sisipain kita," Mika threatened.
She smiled.
"Babe, naman. Between the two of us, ako dapat ang magworry. Keep your doors locked, Babe, ah."
"Babe, we're staying in the same room, remember?"
Damn it. That was one of the reasons why she couldn't even sleep.
"Then, make sure you keep that pepper spray I gave you with you at all times. Baka mamaya gapangin ka pa nang kung ano diyan," she mumbled the last part hoping Mika wouldn't hear it.
"Alyssa Valdez!"
Tough luck. Mika heard it. She was definitely gonna get an earful again.
"Tigilan mo nga 'yang ganiyang pag-iisip. Ara is my best friend. 'Yun lang. Masyado kang malisyosa. I keep telling you, no malice samin ni Ara!"
"None on your part."
"Alyssa."
She heard the annoyance in Mika's voice
"Okay. Okay. I'm sorry, okay? Still, be cautious, Babe. I don't wanna get even more jealous than I already am."
"We're a lost cause. I'm here, unable to sleep, kasi iniisip ko na sigurado ang dami niyong moments ni Den habang wala ako and namamatay na ako sa selos, Babe. Pero ikaw rin, ganiyan. Paano na tayo niyan, Babe?" Mika chuckled.
